I couldn't decide so ended up with both
Both are awesome, but very different. GTR is a great Daily sports car, insanely fast and great growl. GT3 however just constantly makes me smile. If i have to let one go its the GTR.

In the latest road and track comparison the GTR from Mercedes was even quicker then the McLaren 720 S and the Lamborghini performante by over a second and a half a lap which is a lifetime. Over four seconds a lap quicker than the standard transmission GT3.2.
Very impressive and the fit and finish of the car is outstanding for the money. The sound of the car is breathtaking and the turn in and front end grip is magical.

I have both. Agree with fastmd. In the GTR you can’t help but giggle when you drive it. But it does have its downsides.
For many euro roads is too wide. And navigating multi-story car parks are sweat inducing affairs. Visibility and practicality is not as good...but it is FUN.
However, if I could only have one, it would always be the GT3. Especially if you have never owned one before. I could easily go thru life and die happy having never owned a GTR....but I know if I had never owned and experienced a GT3, I would go to my grave unfulfilled.
GT3 is a bucket list car. GTR is not.

Was going to get the GTR but decided to stick with the .2 GT3. My two cents on the value is this one will hold its value better than most other AMGs, though that's not saying much the way AMG depreciates. For example, I just looked at a '18 E 63 today with 420 miles on the odometer and it already lost 20k in value. Not very encouraging... I'd go Porsche.

Both nice in their own way...however, I WILL say that like most Mercedes products, they fall like rocks with regards to resale. Actually, the more powerful the engine, the more they depreciate! Just look at any of the 12-cylinder cars....S65, SL65, etc.
