Should be interesting.

Ford GT, 991.2 GT3, 720S, Performante, but still no 488.

Ford GT should outclass everything. Nice that the GT3 is even in contention with that car.

UM OH MY GOD

NO FERRARI 488 GTB

HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE COMMIT THE UNCONSCIONABLE SIN OF CALLING THIS TEST PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR WITHOUT INCLUDING A CAR THAT IS NOT ELIGIBLE, BUT FOR WHICH I HAVE A STRONG PERSONAL INTEREST IN SEEING "COMPETE" ???

Typical Ferrari maneuver stating a car not “available” I’d guess.

Err...its not eligible because it was introduced in 2015 and it has already won Top Gear's Supercar of the Year award in 2016.

Looks pretty awesome.

Ford GT, 720S and Performante are the elephants in the room. Let's see how our beloved 991.2 GT3 holds up to them.

and yet they managed to get all the other new cars of the year. Imagine that. Wow- didn’t think magazines and such could get all the cars for a test.

I just hope the winner doesn't have a turbo or an electric blender motor. . .

If it was EVO COTY, the 911 would almost guarantee a a win or runner up showing.

You just don't understand how the practical realities of these tests work:

Off the top of my head, the following magazines conduct some sort of annual test that is open only to the latest, greatest performance cars that year:

Evo
Car
Autocar
Top Gear (magazine)
Road & Track
Car & Driver
Motor Trend

I'm sure there are others

Magazine editor in chief says "I want to do the annual, marquee performance car test the week of XXX"

Magazine has a round table to discuss which cars they'd like to invite to the test

Magazine road test editor reaches out to PR contact at each OEM and requests the cars they'd like to test for that given week

SOME of the cars are available that week, whereas others are not available - for many reasons

The magazine conducts the test

The magazine publishes the test

Here's an entirely non-exhaustive reason a car might not be available for a test:

Scheduling conflict (someone else has the car that week, the car just finished a test with another media outlet and won't be able to be checked over by the OEM's techs, new tires, aligned, etc. in time for the next test)

Someone wrecked the car in a preceding test, or the test itself (http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...en-570s-pcoty/)

The OEM has some beef with the magazine or one of the writers at the magazine (someone wrecked a different press car or one of the other cars the manufacturer builds didn't perform well in a previous comparison test)

The OEM doesn't believe their car will compete favorably or be reviewed favorably by a particular media outlet

The car is a limited edition and all of them are sold - no reason to "compete"

The car is so new that the press launch hasn't yet transpired; why have the first press reviews of the car come in a comparison test vs. a carefully controlled and curated event that highlights the car's strong attributes?

Etc.
