Montana Registration

California needs to take several things more seriously than the relative handful of exotics registering their vehicles out of state. Unfunded pension obligations north of $200B might be a good start, but hey...let's go after that guy with his Boxster and build a high speed rail from LA to SFO that doesn't really go to LA or SFO.

For the guys buying cars in California and registering them in Montana, have any of the dealers had an issue with this? I'm working on trying to secure an allocation for a 718 GT4 and some out of state dealers are fine with this but it seems the California dealers are a bit skeptical.

Key thing, I’m going to register my car in Montana, not the dealer.
If your asking a CA dealer to do your registration paperwork for Montana, that might be the source of the resistance.

some dealers are reluctant to do that in particular for GT cars . One reason is the fact that Porsche is trying to encourage dealers to sell to local customers. So, say you buy a car from a dealer in NY and register the car in Montana. In the eyes of Porsche , the dealer sold the car out of his region and so the dealer might not be awarded extra bonus allocations which Porsche hand to dealers occasionally.

It does not matter if the dealer does the registration or you do . Most dealers use outside companies to register cars and many of the companies are national so they deal with dealers across multiple states

If planning to register in MT make sure the "buyer" is the MT LLC you will have established. Not sure of consequences if otherwise.

Has anybody secured a loan through their Montana LLC? If so which bank or credit union? To register your car in Montana, it needs to be under your LLC and not your name. Thus when taking out an auto loan, it needs to be under your LLC. I'm not sure how difficult this will be to secure a loan under my LLC but I will soon find out.

Or perhaps it's because states are not a huge proponent of this, and financial lenders are privy to that and don't do lending under those terms.
