I have also seen obstruction charges as driver makes claims to officer.

When I go to these car shows and I see dark tinted Montana license plates I just shake my head. Actually know a lawyer who makes a lot of money and he drives around in an Audi R8 with Montana plates just ridiculous.
I have good advice for people when they get pulled over....SHUT THE HELL UP and don't answer any questions by saying that my lawyer said not to.

No, don’t say your lawyer said not to but shut the hell up for sure. In 30 seconds the invocation of a lawyer is a reason to write you up.

Not tax evasion, violation of the registration law. I know people who've gotten them here in CA and back in TX when I lived there.

Your a stubborn cat sorry dog eh? I just posted that Ga Department of revenue charges 5 to 10% per month on ad valorem tax.

Have you gotten Real umbrella insurance coverage yet?

Before he gets the to the plate, the cop pulls you over and says "Do you know how fast you were going?"

So what do you say? I assume you say "Yes".

That's then followed by "OK, how fast were you going then?"

several reasons.

1. Liability, all cars, boats, planes, homes are in LLCs.
2. I dont want the stupid front plate and stickers on my windshield.
3. I dont want other people driving my cars for the inspection/brake check.

I was stopped by a highway patrol (because he wanted to ask about the car), and the plate came up. I told him why, verbatim, and he said, he'd do the same and sent me on the way.
I like your explanations to the cop.

Beside not paying an obscene amount to the democratic republic of California (that will just waste it), I also don't want the front plate, windshield stickers, or inspection guys driving my cars.

I like the LLC liability excuse as well, although a single member LLC doesn't provide you much legal protection if you get in an accident while driving your GT car.

And you say your cruise control was set at (the posted) speed limit.

I know a couple of guys from Illinois and Michigan who got in trouble over this. Ended up paying taxes + fines. Not sure about the details but I know that both of them registered 5+ cars this way over a couple of years so maybe that is why it caught the state's attention.

We’re one of the highest taxed states in the nation (4th I believe after CA, Hawaii, and NY), but one benefit we have is no Sales Tax. Trade my 12% income tax (on everything!!!) for a sales tax though!

If they are gonna write me up, they'll write me up regardless of what I say so it's just best not to say anything. My answers to cops when I get pulled over are basically...Yes, No, and I don't know.

My response to that question is something to this effect...I don't know as I was focusing on the driving and what's in front of me and not looking down at the speedometer.

Im not a lawyer but as I understand it the legality and protection afforded but a single member LLC depends on how well it was set up and how well it is run. If you have complete bylaws and regular meeting minutes for example, there is no reason why a single member LLC would be treated differently from a multi member version.

States should confiscate and auction any car they find evading taxes. Pretty easy to find them with the big Montana license plate on the back...

Montana requires a front plate don't they?
