Here is a list of my favorite restaurants & wine tasting rooms in our area in case
it might be useful to some of you visiting during the Monterey Historics!
Mission Ranch on 26270 Dolores Street behind the Carmel Mission. (American). http://www.missionranchcarmel.com/restaurant.htm
Clint's only remaining restaurant in Carmel. Don't bother
with the one he sold long ago - Hog's Breath.
Other restaurants in Carmel Valley & Carmel Valley Village that I recommend:
Baja Cantina (Mexican) on 7166 Carmel Valley Road (not far from Carmel-by-the-Sea): http://www.carmelcantina.com
The weekly gathering of sport cars & hot rods is on Thursdays!
The Baja Cantina owner, auto collector Pat Phinny, also is the proprietor of 'Turn 12'
restaurant (American) in downtown Monterey - thus named because Laguna Seca
has 11 turns! http://www.turn12barandgrill.com
*********
Carmel Valley Village (20/30 minute drive from Carmel).
Can also be accessed via Laureles Grade from Route 68
in vicinity of Laguna Seca):
Talbott was owned by a friend, notable motorcycle collector, Robb Talbott!
Carmel Mid-Valley
Jeffrey's Grill / 112 Mid Valley Center / Great Breakfast & Brunch spot.
Halfway to Carmel Village. Closer to Quail Lodge & Carmel proper! http://www.jeffreysgrillandcatering.com
*******
By the way, you can drive from Carmel to Greenfield
(on 101, south of Salinas) via Carmel Valley Road and Monterey County G16 Road. Pretty twisty...and a good Porsche interior road to drive!
I will be there from this Friday, thru to the end.
Racing Denny Hulme's ex-Brabham '63 works Formula Junior.
Practice Thurs, Fri. 2x race on Sunday. Say hello if you're around...

From villa d'este to pebble... I wonder if we can get Dante to fly out and join us also?
A Rennlister that participated in the Concerned
Owners Group that met with PAG & PCNA last
week in Atlanta contacted me to see if I know
of an available ticket for The Quail on Friday
August 18th. He needs to buy one for a friend
that wants to attend the event with him. So if
anyone knows of any tickets available for sale,
please let me know & I'll put the two of you in
contact!
I ran out of luck after attending The Quail for
the past three years in a row as guest of Audi.
I attended the first 6 years of the event since
its inception in 2002, but gave up on it after
Sir Michael raised the cost of the entry ticket
beyond what I considered 'reasonable'!
But I had the priviledge of seeing the great
Michael Schumacher at the Quail 2013 event
the summer before his terrible skiing accident.
That is a Quail that I will never forget!
But Audi didn't have tickets for the event
this year...so I am heading instead to the
'Werks Reunion' at Corral de Tierra to
hang out with my fellow 'homies' that are
part of the brotherhood called by some
'a basket of deplorables'!
Saludos,
Eduardo Presently in Scottsdale...but getting ready to
drive all the way to Carmel tomorrow!
My friend & veteran San Diego area Porsche
enthusiast John Straub will be showing his
photography in Carmel-by-the-Sea during
Historic Car Week. And there will also be
a reception at the 'Gallery' on Thursday
August 17th between 1 & 4 PM!
***
When John isn't taking photos, he is driving this
interesting 911 with lots of 'patina'
!

But leaving tomorrow
for Carmel!
No, I just detailed the RS7 & it's going
to be resting safely here in Arizona.
I was going to take the '15 991 gt3
but I just sold that 'Signal Green'
beauty to my good dealer friends
at Porsche of Colorado Springs!
They already have one of the ten 'Signal
Green' '15 gt3s in inventory but they keep
buying! I think they are trying to see how
many PTS 991 gt cars (gt3, RS, gt4 & 911R)
they can hoard at one single dealership at
one time & corner the entire Paint-to-Sample
market in the US! Or so it seems!
So I rented a Passat & I am 'slumming it' on
this trip to the Monterey Historics. It's so bad
that I might enter it in the Concours d'Lemons!
It's that good!
It's the right color for that event. The bilious
& vomit-inducing PTS 'Merlot Rental Metallic'
that seems to captivate the imagination of
every fleet buyer at Avis, Hertz & Enterprise!
But I have an appointment to see a .2 991S
in the Bay Area this weekend that might hold
me over until I get my PTS Boxster Spyder
& PTS/Manual .2 991 gt3 allocation (should
I be so fortunate & live long enough to see
them built to order!).
Saludos,
Eduardo

Caro Dante... this is just a sample after arriving this evening.
Everyone of the modern cars is here including pagani, koenigsegg with their new model regera, Porsche unveiling their GT2RS tomorrow.. not to mention interesting stuff like one of the Walton family with this gorgeous white Ferrari (Montana plates because every penny counts of course), Singer here delivering a car to a friend in our group, mclaren rally... and its just day 1.. I have to say that for sheer breadth and depth nothing beats monterey car week/pebble beach. It's such an overload that it's tough to take in.
Going to track down the Walmart gentleman who is staying at our hotel tomorrow and see if I can get a ride in the white and red 'Rari.. I'll drop a few IRS jokes to see if he catches on.

More pictures of the Singer(s) please!!!
The other stuff is just blah, high-tech, blah, old stuff, blah
LOL- wish I was there, this stupid sun/moon collision wrecked my plans this year!
Oh yea buddy... we ran that thing until tanks were dry until sunset yesterday in all the cars.. mclaren is doing its test drives on it all day today.. I left the hotel to go for a run on it and it's a damn racetrack with packs of cars in the same brands running up and down the hill. I feel bad for the locals.. guys in pickups trying to get work done and bugattis, lambos, Maccas literally flying around them. It's bordering on insane to be honest
