Default Advice on a potential GT3 Allocation

I am about to be given an allocation @ msrp for an 18 GT3 by my local dealership but the condition is that they want me to trade in my current 991.1 GT3.

Can someone who has done this walk me through how this would play out?
Would they want my GT3 traded in now? What is the trade in range for a 991.1 GT3 that folks here have experienced?
I assume I need to make sure I get a commission # and signed paperwork stating the allocation/build is mine?

Any advice and or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What are they offering as a trade value for yours? Is there a tax advantage in your state when trading? What values (wholesale) have you found for yours on internet sites? It might be best to get their number first so you can compare what others in different locations have seen.

They have not given me a trade value for mine yet. I have a high msrp 15 GT3 with 6k miles. Was wondering what folks are getting on trade on similar.
Also no tax advantages as I live in CA.
I have seen similar builds go for anywhere from 149k-160k.

I got an allocation first and then told them I'd be trading in my 991.1 GT3. I had 7,000 on my 2015 GT3 and since it was not my DD, there was no reason to keep a car that I'd be nervous to drive (door dings, rear ended by distracted drivers, etc), so I told them I'd trade it in the next day.

They gave me a trade in paperwork, and a printout of my allocation with commission number and my name on it. When the car comes in, they just deduct the trade in value from the new car and i pay the difference + tax.

It helped that I was willing to trade it in right away (8 months before my 991.2 GT3 would arrive). They moved it in about a week. It also helped that my MSRP is around $175k.

A few things to consider... I built a spreadsheet that compared what they would have to give me on a trade to offset the tax benefit vs. selling it outright to a private party. Without getting into the exact numbers, since it's been 4 months now, they actually offered me more than I would have needed. I also saved the monthly cost of insurance for 8 months. Figure somewhere around $1300-1400.

If I consider the tax benefit plus the $ they credited me, it costs me around $400 / month over the 2 year period to drive the 991.1 GT3. Not bad.

That is a retail number you are quoting. Wholesale, trade-in numbers will be below that. A lot of options have no value upon trade-in for a dealer but will be hyped by them upon resell.

I traded my 15 GT3 recently at 19% under MSRP. I'm also getting the 8% discount on my trade, since I can deduct the sales from the trade car. also getting PTS and I'm thrilled with the deal.

I just traded my 15 GT3 for 2% under the original MSRP after 2.5 years and 8500 miles. But I paid 8.5% above MSRP for and RS

I believe it was a very aggressive price to make me bite on the RS. They CPO'd my car and have it listed for $154K. Original MSRP $141K....I believe with this car the trade will always make more sense with the tax savings because many used buyers want the CPO. If someone is shopping a used GT3 for the most part they will pay a little more for he extra 2 yrs/ 50K mile warranty....just my opinion

I have pretraded cars in the past. Always works out to get the most for your trade. Car could be 6 months out and you never know what the market will be like. They most likely want your car now.

What are the specifics of your car? Miles? MSRP? In service date?

What was their offer? They've got to have a trade number in mind. You need them to lay out specifics on a price and timeline.
