Maybe because I'm a complete buffoon, but where does it say that the Viper was tweaked?

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...track-records/

Viper broke track records set by the 918 and other hyper cars all across America - the Ring attempt is a group funded by guys like myself few companies with small budget.

The 918's time was done with a stack of computers on the passenger seat with factory race support and drivers as was Lamborghini but for a lack of stacked computers so when someone states the Viper is tweaked that is not true in fact quite the opposite.

The Viper ran many days in the rain with traffic - the first and only clean lap was 7:03 NA manual V10 145k stock production car running on Kumho's under 7 is very doable.

Feel free to read the R&T article the Viper under 150k took down the best of the best - what these guys are doing at the Ring is what dreams are made of.

I was there, in the garage in TX when the two cars were being "tweeked". Serious car, no games.

The car bone stock comes with adjustable suspension, adjustable aero etc. All they are doing is "tweaking" the bonestock adjustable parts just like any owner can do. How does that make it NOT bone stock? The stock hubs with play in them had to be replaced with stock hubs which had to be tightened a bit tighter than stock torque requirements. Is that what you are referring to? If so it's still stock.

if it's not and you are implying they are cheating then please spill the beans sir lol. Tires? Computer tweaks?

The ACR is really just a street legal racecar. Looks stock to me.

Road and Track mag was over there with them, so I'm sure they'll probably do a nice writeup, maybe even vids on it. Cars have a lot of adjustability built in, just like a GT3RS or most track pack type of cars. You have to assume they are on some shaved kumhos, but it's the stock tire...so be it.

Adjusting suspension is still using a "bone stock" car in my book.

Now, if you were to change suspension parts, then not "bone stock"

I get why some think so but to me It's a street car with a serious focus on racing. It comes with many street car compromises like A/C, rubber bushings, can have full sound deadening as the more streetable Vipers, has heavy street car seats, can be fitted with 18 speaker HK sound system, infotainment screens etc. It doesn't even come with a roll cage as a factory option like Porsche offers with their GT cars.

Doesn't sound much like a full on street legal race car anymore than a GT3 RS or GT2 RS would be imho. Now the Ford GT, street legal Radicals etc those are street legal Race cars as they were designed as race cars that were then made streetable. Semantics? Hehe. Possibly but then by your definition we would then have to call the SV, AMG GTR, Performante, GT2/3 RS etc streetlegal race cars no? The only difference between Dodges approach and those others is they went further with the fixed aero.

Official in-car video, unedited, from 7/26/17. It is of Dominik Farnbacher driving a 2017 Viper ACR-Extreme lapping the Nordschleife at Nurburgring. The official time is 7:03.45.
Fastest American-Made Production Car Lap
Fastest RWD Production Car Lap
Fastest Manual Gearbox Production Car Lap
Thank you to Viper Nation, Kumho Tire USA, Kumho Tire Europe GmbH, PREFIX, ViperExchange, BJ Motors, Fox Production Films & everyone involved in this effort.

The Ring requires a device to be on the car that device fell off ended up behind the clutch.

The Viper ran for 2 minutes of which they are claiming it was on it's way to under 7 minutes. Fingers crossed another 50k is raised for the August run.

I can not load the video it's on fb under The Viper Ring Record Run Powered by Kumho and Co-sponsored by Prefix

Here you go Nuvolari...

Dom putting in work. Never really realized how bumpy and narrow this track is until you see a really fast car go around it.....
