Pretty sure the RS will enjoy a HP bump and a more than marginally improved Ring time (GT3 shaved over 12 sec from .1 and no reason to think RS wouldn't do something similar).

Yep I say they will be produced. Also think half will get sold to enthusiasts who drive and track them and the other half to flippers that will sell the first ones for $80k over and then slowly fall down to A few bucks over MSRP a few years later when the .2RS comes out.

Interesting they have 992 testing with RS. A GTS or maybe even S 992 will be quicker than even .2 RS most likely on similar rubber. This for me is the biggest reason that they have to add either hybrid or turbo to the next generation GT cars.

If i listening to those vids:

day 1:

day2:

There is a difference - the .2 does a more "choppy" upshift. Dale also says something about 4.2 or 4.4l ...
I still doubt it... But hope it!

Another fact is that the .2 has a production window for EU from March.2018 till August.2018. seen on the official dealer planing xls sheet. Thats just half a year! --> Based on Euro6c.

two quotes from the GT2RS thread:

Euro6 engines are able to be first registered untill 01.Sept.2018

all the GT2RS and all the N/A 4.0 engines are Euro6 - so they are built for EU just till Aug.2018 - to be able to be first registered within 30.Aug.2018
than they will deliver/focus with the production for NorthAmerica, China, ROW,...

if somebody thinks this is blabla / urban myth / etc. i bet against: with 100$ for a good cause.
If i´m not sure i write it. here on this topic i´m 100% sure.

100 cars for GER... bs... imho
80 PorscheCentres within GER. Everybody to whom i spoke to is getting around 1-4 cars.
minimum 200 GT2RS will go the GER. 2.000+ cars world wide.

for comparison:
1.000 991.1GT3RS were registered in GER. (this are public numbers)
around 6.000+ world wide is the guess.

i guess Porsche could manage it somehow to get the GT2RS and the N/A 4.0 engine ready for Euro6c - but therefore they need to install a particle filter. the allowed amount of soot (fine particles) is with Euro6c just 1/10 compared to Euro6.
on DFI otto engines this is an issue which seems only to be solved with an additional filter. (AdBlue / urea)

i guess the 991.2 3RS will not be numbered.
i guess further it will not come another GT3RS model which will be numbered. If such a "cup" (similar to 997 4.0) will come - it have to have Euro6c. But yeah - if the NA 4.xl engine can somehow manage Euro6c they should bring one - same for the 718 GT4 (RS). but this is then stuff for 2019.

one is sure:

if it will get a bigger engine than 4.0l - and why not also the choice for a MT!? - we will get crazy.

if it stays 4.0 - it will get a MT for sure - i guess. to have somehow a difference to the .1 3RS. except another 15hp and fancy car entertainment....

I mean, what can they actually do? There isn’t really anywhere to go! But they usually have some kind of fruity trick up their sleeve.

I think 4.0 remains. There were hints they could get more out of it with the new valve lifters. Maybe small rpm lift to achieve this.

New brake cooling ducts as per GT2. Dont need them as there is not a problem but they add visual drama.

Then normal RS goodies that we already have: 20mm wider tyres all round, 21†to rear, CFRP body panels, Mg roof, plastic rear windows, bigger wing, Ti exhaust etc.

They always have a slight aero improvement.

Possible profit-grabbing Weissach Pack with the mg wheels and CF roof?

I literally can’t think of anything else!

Could be as simple as RWS / suspension / brake cooling / N2 spec tires from the GT2RS, get an extra 25HP out of the 4.0 and maybe a manual available.

With only 6 month window, they need not to do more.

If it stays 4.0 then it’s more plausible that all future cars go TT.
If 4+ there may be more NA in the future.

No way they will make it MT, unless they make a special edition out of the RS. This RS will just all the handling bits from the GT2RS + improvements and some RSR bits for the engine (that is good for 570hp) and that's that.
The one I'm curious to see is the 992 GT3RS and if they will go mid-engine ala RSR, that might open the door for hybrid system integration

That's all it would take. As you said earlier, the window is small so demand is not going to be an issue. There is zero reason to work hard on improvements when they will all easily sell.

One thing to keep in mind is that they can and will continue to sell cars everywhere else once that window closes in Europe. Expect most production to go there first to try to fill them up.

I will sit this round out, and see what the next gen does. For me it's still the same car, and some more performance most people can't capture. Man my fist Porsche 1 of 4 I've owned for more than two years. Good news to my financial advisor.

Plop the new 4.0 in it, update RWS, MPSC2 N2 spec tires, suspension, and brake cooling with the new look front bumper and I’d all it good enough.

Deliver it before middle 2019 so I don’t run out of warranty with Purple.

No idiot low or high oil warning would be an upgrade.
No idiot TPS light if you want to set circuit pressure under 26PSI would be an upgrade.
No limp mode with a quarter tank of gas would be an upgrade.

Club sport / Weissach package in a box alone would be reason enough to get the .2.
