We nearly ran over 30 or so morons along 58 looking at all that lush color and not paying attention to fact they are on a HIGHWAY. We preferred to make noise. you got some good pics thought!

The RS makes a great road trip car. Need shocks dialed down a few notches for the rougher roads. But damn, 58 was pretty epic. Doing 25 again, worth it. We did some back roads to Paso that I need to do again.

Great trip. I think i did about 1200 miles between the spyder and the RS. Both fun, RS is more manic. Similar horsepower. But RS pulls with more intensity.

RS cleaned up(thanks mooty!) and under cover, will live up here for a few months. Told the wife she’s doing this trip w/ me south.

I think I need to do something up north of Marin along the coast. Maybe June July timeframe. I heard “there is a loop” that must be done.

I know we love to talk about car
buy cars
discuss options and values

but you have to go drive them.
no, some ppl think 1 hour to maybe 30 miles is a 'drive'
haha

take a 1000 mile trip.
DRIVE the **** out of the car.
you will understand the ZEN of cars.
everything else is irrelevant

my new 914/6 is cleaner than I would say ANYONE 991RS here.
on this tip. it was peppered by rocks, from tailgating damn SpyerX
killed squirrels
CRACK my windshield
dragged my speedometer cable on the pavement
damaged clutch and brake pedals
lots of chip on concourse level paint job

frankly I didnt give rat's a** about all that.
it was just FUN

great company
nice roads
and excellent fool
lots driving no value BS

Mooty is right - car can handle the abuse. Zen mode achieved after several hours with tach above 4k rpm.

On rock chips: Mooty doesn't hear radios. His car has no top, he's at 5k RPM in his 120hp 914/6.
He was also texting during "driver's meeting" when this was covered.
Rocks on road, people announce on walkie-talkie:
"Rocks on Road - BACK OFF!"
Mooty hears:
"Please DRAFT - GET CLOSE!"
so he pulls up closer to get tight to 997

Lucky for him, massive bug kill on car forms organic PPF / clear bra and prevents most chips.

haha. nah, no 914 for me.

only car purchases even somewhat on the horizon for me would either be new daily driver or a 997.2 GT3 RS.
and that horizon is likely still quite a way off at this point. though that RS at Merit is tempting.

Spyerx there is 75 min loop, 120 min loop, 270 min loop. All awesome. Long loop should be ready to go soon after recent rains...

...dial down the damping on those Ohlins and let me and ChrisF know when you are good to roll!

Maybe mooty can take her on his loop and report back on the shox :-) which by the way we’re perfect on 58 and a little painful in 25.

sounds awesome. Will let you guys know

mooty only cares about air cooled VWs these days.
i'll take your car out for a nice drive in the hills and down to the ocean.

edit: oh, and i've driven a good amount of the infamous loop.
the stretch of road going from Hwy 1 up to the bridge that has been in many pictures here was much bumpier than i expected.
and that was in a stock 997.2 GT3

Thanx for sharing the pics. Great state we live in. I did 36 with a few from this site a couple years back, epic back roads. No cuisine though. Looking to put another drive together, up north.
