Are they going for 100% MSRP. I had heard some cars wholesale to dealer at low to mid 300's. Not first hand info but thats what I was told from a dealer principle. For me the car will become a footnote in the yet storied LE 991 variants. I'd take a GT3.2 manual all day over an R.

Agree. I'd pay roughly 50% MSRP prem for R. Not more; which means I'm way off market still.

Was at my local dealer the other day. They had two RS's and an R that was paid for and waiting delivery. Owners showing no haste in actually picking up the cars. What do you make of that? Flippers? Investors?

you're missing the point being made; find me an RL member who got a call from their dealer to tell them their R or RS had arrived that short of a major personal trauma would not collect their car within 24hrs of that call ... which they had been anticipating for weeks...

as an example I know a number of people who watched the RoRo their car was on transit the panama canal on their webcams ...

its not about what they did or did not pay for them - its their intent

Good point. I had most recent RS deliver into Houston and I flew in from NY the first available weekend just to drive it for one day.

When my R arrived, I was 1500 miles away, at the top of a glacier. I left it at the dealer for a few days, hopefully that doesn't make me a speculator?

Naturally, if it had been a .2GT3 manual, i would have found a way to be home within hours.

:LOL!!! Honestly I thought the same thing. Maybe this person was overseas or had someplace more important, that he needed to be.. I've known some guys to leave there cars at the dealership throughout the winter because they were down south for 3-5 months.. lol

If anyone knows of someone wholesaling an R at 300k (50% over) I will buy them all and start a candy farm.

The R is an awesome car to drive, and any dips in price will be filled by real collector guys that want more than one of them. Just like 4.0 RS...964RS...etc. Guys want more than one color. Guys want one to beat on and one to wax on.

I'm driving my white/ purple one but want another color one to wax.

It's a more engaging car to drive vs the 991.1 GT3 or RS. No question. I think it's the gear ratios, tire size, rear wheel steering all combined with a little extra light magic. A little. It's marginal but noticeable.

That being said- the new GT3 will probably be a lot of fun and a better track car. So, for those of you that don't feel like spending 450k on a white 911R, go get a new GT3 manual and have fun for 165k. Drive the ***** off it, it will not be Collectable like the 997.1RS but it will be faster, more capable etc etc etc

For perspective-

964RS in fantastic condition: 360-450 depending on color. Good non-Beaters are 300k.

993RS: asking prices well into 400-500 regardless of miles

997 4.0RS: owners with sub 10k mile cars asking 425-470, crazy low mile cars 500+, that higher mile (20k+) black one was sold around 375? Road scholars is asking CGT money for Jeff Zwarts old 4.0 PTS.

911R: selling at 440-520 depending on color (I have been offered a real PTS one but way too rich for my opinion

997 GT2RS: advertised from 450-500+ depending on miles

So a 10k ADM on a 991 GT3 is not really priced out of collector markets or "expensive to the collectors". Sure it sucks that dealers do it.

All great points and not refutable in terms of prices at this moment. I think some people on this board are trying to predict when the Porsche price bubble will pop and how that will affect prices. The limited quantities of 911r's protect it, to a degree especially when compared to the next gen gt3 rs which promises to not be particularly limited.

Had a good drive out in my R Sunday morning. This really is very special car, feels like its a 1000kg car, reminds me a lot like the 964RS. Like above any dips in price will be viewed as a buying opportunely....

Can only see prices going higher, after all those early flipper's will be long out by now, and those that paid the 500k etc, wont be selling any time soon ether.

4.0: Last (and best) of the 997s (imho). Last (and best) of the Mezgers. Superior dynamics, suspension, driving experience to any other 997, a high water mark that can no longer be duplicated.

911R: Mid-cycle car that's already been trumped in many important ways by its immediate successor.

I'd own an R now if I'd been able to get a slot- in both concept and execution it's my kind of car. Had it been the last of the 991s it might well have rivaled the 4.0. Instead, however, we'll likely get multiple manual, normally aspirated successors that will improve on it in various ways. Thus I see history judging it more like a better "Sport Classic" (a nicely balanced, limited, special package) than an RS 4.0 (the greatest car of its generation). In light of this I don't quite understand the values above- I simply can't see the R being worth more than the 4.0 a decade from now. Which doesn't mean the R needs to go down... instead the 4.0 may well go up even further.
