Default Does ECU Data Show Number of Times 9k RPMs hit?

Anyone familiar with the data that is logged in the ECU? I was wondering if we might be able to figure out the number of times an engine hit redline? I don't mean over-revs.

Thanks.

No, just over revs logged by the ECU. You may see some range 1 over revs from hitting redline.

Only over revs are logged by the ECU in the DME report.

For the number of times your car hit exactly redline, just check with your local doctor on amount of dopamine spikes you had due to pure joy.

Hope this helps.

I know dealers check over revs prior extending warranty but can someone tell me how it is possible to over rev with PDK (unless you are going down the cliff)?

I think sometimes when you hit the rev limiter it is possible to very slightly exceed 9k (counts as Range 1 over-rev, but is not harmful and won't affect your warranty).

Thanks guys. If there were range 1's I wonder how consistent they'd be from vehicle to vehicle. For example, if these innocent over revs represent 5% of total times 9k was hit, looking at this data could help approximate how hard the car was driven, relative to the miles on the clock.

It's a little hard to analyze, since it counts the number of ignitions beyond 9k (not the number of over-rev events). One could probably get an idea with enough examples from various cars. But if there are no Range 2 nor higher, I would consider it good...

Depending on how the ranges are organized, Range 2 or more might be fine too...

Look at it this way - try to find a GT3 that has not hit the rev limiter...

And as CJ said you cannot mechanically over-rev PDK. Thats where the damage will occur.

If you are looking for reasons why engines fail, look elsewhere. Full auto, 9k rpm shift every time on 7000 track miles. Lap times keep getting faster with each track day
