Did anyone get their GT car delivered there recently?
Bummed that Zuffenhausen is out right now, so trying to determine if it's even worth doing.
Have they made any recent changes to the setup to accommodate those that would have otherwise gone to Zuffenhausen? I assume museum tickets are doable, but is a Zuffenhausen factory tour still possible, even with Leipzig delivery?

Yes, it's worth doing (have only done Zuff myself, but you get track time at Leipzig). Some people prefer it to Zuff and you are closer to places like Berlin and Prague if that interests you (or more chance for break-in if you're headed to the Ring )
May consider renting there and leaving the GT3 until I can get PPF back home. I assume Porsche can rent me a 911 of some sort?
At the factory, you drive one of their cars on the track. But once you've left and want to track, just put some of this on your car and enjoy (fits easily in your luggage):
Haven't done it (tried with GT3 and dealer didn't want to screw with it) but would LOVE to do it. What a great 10 day drivers fest you could turn that into.
Agreed! I have very little spare vacation, but this sounds like a fun way to burn what's left!
For those contemplating European Delivery of a Porsche
in the next 8 to 9 months, it is invaluable. Before your
post, the last published date that I was aware of for the
re-opening of the European Delivery section at Zuffenhausen
was "... at the end of the third quarter of 2017."
Supposedly, the European Delivery office at Leipzig can
handle only seven (7) or eight (8) individual deliveries a
day, unless a larger group is put together by the PCNA
European Delivery office here in the States. Are both
parts of that statement that true to your knowledge?

Actually, Leipzig's European Delivery capabilities
have been traditionally limited. Perhaps not as
many requests & their set up area is not that
large (see photos I took in 2015 below). When
I was last there two years ago, they had just
four Macans ready for factory pick up by their
owners. Notice that the plates are German.
It's quite common for Porsche customers in
Germany to order from their local dealers but
pick up the vehicles at the factory. Normally,
that is the bulk of 'factory delivery, which we
refer to as 'European Delivery' if it involves
non-European market customers like us.
I would anticipate that until Zuffenhausen factory
delivery opens up again in the first half of 2018
(even assuming some delays), the slots for so-called
'European Delivery' for North American customers
at Leipzig will be limited. And if you are ordering a
991 or 718, PAG will have the expense of trucking it
to Leipzig from Zuffenhausen.
So it would not surprise me if they try to discourage
'European Delivery' (via limited slots or raised fees)
until the Zuffenhausen 'factory delivery' center is
re-established. But I do not know for sure. Suggest
you contact the person in Atlanta tasked with dealing
with European Delivery for customers in North America.

Yes to both questions. Museum is open at
Zuffenhausen. Your PCA member's card gets
you a discount in ticket price. Tours to either
Zuffenhausen and/or Leipzig assembly lines
need to be requested in advance of any visit.
Suggest a least one month advance request
to insure good results.
In short, hell yes. I picked up my RS there last year and it was great. I otherwise would not have gone there and I enjoyed seeing the contrast with Stuttgart. Track time in a loaner RS was good, factory tour and a great lunch at the restaurant. While I headed south after delivery, Leipzig is close to Berlin and many other interesting towns. I wound up doing a 7-day loop down through Austria into Switzerland, then back up to Belgium for two days at Spa, then West to 'Ring, Zuffenhausen, then to drop off in Munich. So many ways to do it, just have a little longer to go before you get to tracks or passes if that it was you want to do.
Not Leipzig, specifically, but euro delivery in general - It's absolutely great to be able to drive the car as it is intended to be...but the downside is, when you get home you see how restrictive our speed limits are. This won't be a popular opinion, but after driving in Germany, the cars are a 'bit of a waste' here.

I just received word on my request for ED; my GT3 is part of the very first batch of manuals, I was told Leipzig first week of October for Delivery. Super excited. I've done ED in Zuffenhausen before, so ready to try something new. Track time is somebody else's car is even better!
Last summer you couldn't drop at the factory if it wasn't delivered there, but at a drop off location nearby (Simovic Car Service; Am Hirnach 671065 Sindelfingen). Long list of other options, some at additional cost. I had a good experience dropping off at Log In Out at the Munich airport. It sits inside the airport grounds, directly across the street from the Hilton hotel there (which is very nice). You could hit a long iron from the front door of the drop off to international departures, very convenient.
