as for crap Bose going aftermarket might be the route also for LWBs

better and custom size and same if not less price

damn Pag in EU to avoid that they won t allow CS if not LWBs
but in US no bose no lwb (and no sport chrono) is the route

Agree that if you want a kick *** system, aftermarket is definitely the route.

However, the 991.2 Bose system is much improved over the 991.1 system, (check on Nick and other online reviews).

I'm likely going to get the Bose to make a worthwhile improvement in sound without letting any aftermarket guys tear my car apart.

Bose boxed ticked. Probably won't use it much but I'm basing on fact i look for sound in the 50th but don't in the 997/GT3. A touring .2 I'm hoping fits nicely in the middle, so may look for it.

Nothing wrong with wanting to occasionally listen to some great sounding tunes. If I were you though, I'd save the bucks and get a well thought out after market system.Despite the supposed "improved" character of it, I have NEVER heard a Bose system, auto, home or headphones, that I thought sounded good. Their marketing, OTOH, is absolutely first rate.

According to Porsche literature ,it looks like the Sound Package plus in a 991.2 GT3 is downgraded from the 991.1 GT3. Went from 9 speakers to 8, 235 watts to 150 watts, and a separate amp to an integrated amp in the PCM. Bose for me.

I will be picking the Bose. If I'm that worried about weight I'll drink a few less sodas.

I ended up getting Bose for my build. Went for a drive in my GT4 the other day and the stock sound system is just terrible. I didn’t want the same in the GT3.

As far is weight is concerned.

4 speakers x 1-1.5 lbs each depending on size
subwoofer 5-7 lbs
active crossover/dsp - weight of passive 2-3 lbs
bigger amp - 1 lb

12-17 lb difference.

Looks like they engineered to suck.

I don't understand how can a base radio sound worst than a $150 JBL Bluetooth wireless speaker tube?

I had a Macan loaner for the week with a Bose in it. I have heard them in the past and were horrible, but I must say this one was quite good.

I have been contemplating ordering a Burnstien if I get a Mecan but now i'm thinking of saving the $$$$$$$$$$$$................

I drive my GT3 in the hills and most always listen to tunes and wish for something better.

Yeah that's the thing, if you go aftermarket they're going to tear off all sorts of panels, trim, carpet, parts of the dash, you name it. Basically anywhere there's a speaker or the route to said speaker, and behind the headunit in the dash, plus wherever they decide to mount their amp & woofer (likely drilled into some part of the car).

And these guys aren't Porsche techs, they're just audio guys who work on everything from pickup trucks to camaros. Personally I'd rather spec radio delete than have an aftermarket guy tear through my car.

That's disappointing. I suppose it could be cast as some sort of weight-save effort on the new GT3, but they shouldn't call it the same thing as in previous cars if it's not at least as good.

Yeah, no doubt they're trying to push anyone who cares at all about having a decent stereo to tick another option. Surprised they didn't offer a higher end system to glean even more money.
