Apologies mate. I knew Joe was close but I didnt realise you already had the T-shirt! More amazing still you both have your original F engines! Not sure what you are doing different from the rest but obviously putting the majority of the miles you have in the car, on the track, has obviously helped!

This is my wheel/tire change. Nothing special, first time for myself (and first time this tire shop had ever seen a CL!). 35 mins including plugging the tire. They didn't even charge as they were so enthralled working on something a bit different!

no big deal but if you don't have a second set of track wheels I wouldn't even bother buying the tools.. they only come off for new tires pads and rotors and the shop does that now that I'm lazy.
I got pretty good with my .2 while time trialing, and could do it around this same time also. Peter is on his 3rd or 4th? CL track car so he has lots of experience! I always preferred to do it myself with a brake lock, 'help' just got in the way...

Peter - that picture is in Greymouth - west coast of the South Island. You can imagine all they ever see is Toyota Hilux there!

Despite my using it mainly as a track car (commute to work is less than 10 minutes, and I rotate cars for that), about two-thirds of my miles are still road miles since I drive it to/from the track (in comfort!) rather than trailering, and some of my tracks are up to ~6 hours away (home track is about 1.5 hours). Because of the 50K-mile warranty, I'd rather use up the warranty more exclusively with track miles, but I'll probably reach 4 years at about the same time as 50K miles anyway.

The car has been running well. I've done more than the required maintenance, and the cost hasn't been outlandish. Had a few codes here and there which went away and didn't seem to be of any consequence. No signs of engine issues that I can discern, other than rough idle a few times, and the rate of oil consumption has gone down. On the road, the transmission sometimes has a slight jarring sensation when going from 4th to 3rd, which the dealer wasn't really able to replicate or do anything about at this time, but at least it's on record.

Front of the car has had a difficult life. A minivan threw off a chunk of tire at me on the highway, which cracked the bumper cover, so I replaced it under insurance. Last week, I hit a groundhog on track at 140 mph, which damaged the bumper cover beyond repair. We're going to repair the original bumper (crack was small) and put that back on the car, else this would have cost me about $10K.

On the subject of CL. This generation seem to be without issue? I dont think Ive read a single post on any forum about issues with the CL. Actually after having a nail on the way to a track day at the other end of teh country recently and stopping at a road side tyre show to remove and plug (I had my own 400lbft wrench on board) I was surprised at how easy and quick it was for us to get the car off the car, de beaded, plugged and back on the car. Granted there were two of us (making holding the brake pedal easy) but this was first time for the shop and myself and I just read out the manual pages Id printed off and it all went bery smoothly. The who process including the plug and de beading took 35 mins.

I know alot of folk are putting "5 lug wheels" on their wish list for the 991.2 GT3 and I think many of those are folk that dont own the current generation GT3/RS, but quite honestly the CL is not a show stopper for these cars any longer like it may have been for some in the past...

Now Im off to touch some wood!
I did a pitstop at a track, basically taking off 4 tires and replacing with new ones. The tire shop dudes were busy, so I was on my own taking wheels of and putting them back on. Took under 45 minutes for all 4 wheels, including assembling and disassembling a torque wrench and asking around for tools to take out a stuck locking pin (it would not jiggle and lock so I had to take a wheel off, take the pin out, clean and re-lube it and put it all back together). So it's not bad at all. Still not as fast as 5 nuts and more of a spectacle for others :-).

Does anyone know if 5-lug hubs need to be replaced after 6K miles as well?

Curious to hear what the damage is for the hubs. You continue to trailblaze for the rest of us...
