OT: Wow the 570S in black is just so stunningly beautiful.

Oh hey, those are my photos! I'm the photographer at McLaren SF
Be afraid...be very afraid
I still consider myself a "Porsche guy", but McLarens (especially the 570S) are really fun to drive.
The "Super Series" (12C/650S/675LT) cars drive like nothing else; they always feel very planted.
The "Sport Series" (570S/GT) cars are more "conventional" because they don't have the fully linked hydraulic suspension. In simple terms, the 570S drives like a really nimble and powerful Cayman.
They have a pretty cool interior too.

Yeah, I know. that's what worries me. See, I love the mid engine Porsches despite the fact that some may regard them as the bastard child next to the iconic 911. For me the 981 Spyder is the Porsche I always wanted. Lightweight, exotic looking for a production Porsche, open top, with that glorious 3.8L flat 6. Not as exotic as the 570S but certain shared aesthetics:
So, I couldn't help thinking when looking at the Mclaren 570S (I was imagining it in convertible form) that this is the 981 Spyder Porsche could've made if they felt the market would go for a 200k production Porsche that's not a 911 or a v.2 928 and they didn't mind killing sales on their 991 turbo/S Cabrios.
Of course getting of the plane on my own fantasy island this super spyder would've had the amazing NA 4.0 liter RS engine, the gear box from the 911R, a carbon fiber tub to save weight, a ventilation flue running from the engine bay to slated in grills atop the rear hood for aesthetics as well as cooling. And while I'm at it, I'd have to give the 981 body the typical Porsche wide body and aero treatment to make it a touch more exotic and to provide it with 911R levels of downforce. If doors could hinge 45 degrees or so upward, well that's just the cherry on the Sundae
I know performance wise, the closest i'll probably ever get to that type of car is with the next NA MT GT3. But in my head it would look a lot more like the 570S

I feel like the head lights need to be a little smaller...makes the car look a little cheap to me.
Other than that I think McLaren of late is on to something with the 675LT and now this...I bet the next update of this car will look a bit better...like the MP412C...started off looking just wrong in the front to me and now they have it looking really mean.

I want to love it, but both the back and front are terrible looking IMO.
Damn, one of these days. Only Mac I love is the 675
I can never put my finger on it, maybe its the narrow look of them that doesn't appeal, not sure exactly what it is.

Mc is nice but the front look designed by my 5yrs old son
that s why you need to hide it a little using black color
Saw a 570S in what looked like arena red to me.. looked awesome! Idk about hiding this car in black? I think the styling is spot on. I'm not a bright green/orange person. But a purple/black would be great with the CF treatments to me. I wasn't a fan of the MP12 4c so they are improving big time in my eyes. Really want to see the 570GT!
Everyone has what looks good for them- but after a few minutes in the cockpit of the 570 on the dealer floor. I could spec it... although a lot one w/o me clicking MSO carbon boxes would be much cheaper.
Cheers!

I'm shocked by all the love for the aesthetics of the Mac. aside from the rear end of the P1, which is so friggin cool with those tail lights, I find their designs to be heinous (especially the front). I do absolutely love that they are making these cars, as it sounds like the performance of them is spot on.
for my money though, I'm staying naturally aspirated for as long as possible. I'd take a 458 over a 488, and a 488 over the McLaren (675LT or not).

A friend of mine bought an MP12C about two years ago. He seemed put off that they added so many subsequent models in such a short period of time. He tried to update the look of his but in the end it was fruitless, he dumped it and moved on. I must say that it was probably the most drivable car of its caliber I have ever driven. Too bad about the marketing and drowning itself with so many similar models...
