Could this be the 991.2 GT3?

Be interesting if they keep the GT3 .2 as PDK, in order to preserve the performance over the 991 1. GT3, and save the MT for the Turbo GTS.
just my view what I would do........

Totally agree with you. Its what I would do too. PAG will use the PDK version of 991.2 GT3 to headline the numbers, because quite frankly a MT 991.2 GT3 will be no faster than outgoing GT3.

Totally agree.
Some months ago I wrote in one of the threads on this forum about my experience with the new 991.2 C2S at Leipzig. I was there for the Performance course in my GT3 surrounded by new 991.2 C2S. Out of the slow corners, there is no contest. The C2S puts 5-6 car lengths on the GT3 and it then takes a couple of higher speed corners for the GT3 to claw it back. Around a whole lap, there is no doubt that the GT3 is quicker but even the instructors said that if the 991.2 C2S was on Cup tyres, then it would be line ball with the GT3.
So the GTS promises to be a real weapon and it's one of the reasons the 991.2 GT3 adopts the 4.0 engine and 495hp. And it's one of the reasons I have a deposit down for a 991.2 GT3 and a 991.2 GTS....I want the best of both worlds.

The GTS could be a real contender if they allow the torque to be turned up. But somehow i think now may be too soon, so perhaps it will get a small bhp tweak and nothing more. Silly thing is that unlike prior gens where they needed a X55 upgrade kit with new manifolds, larger throttle body, new cams and programmed ECU now all they need to do is write some new code! I bet they dont drop the price back tho!
Also having just had the DMS race headers fitted to bring my car to around 510 bhp and 345lbft, I would seriously question if a stock 991.2 GT3 with a 6 speed box would actually do any better than staying level with a PDK GTS on MPSC2 tyres assuming PAG do infact bump the power and torque...
I think you have got it covered either way...

i don't think anyone who wants the manual is concerned about lap times. It will be interesting to see if they limit the number of manuals and force pdk numbers, or if they open up the orders and allow the choice. I would guess 70% or more order a manual. There is no doubt that 997 gt3 values are due to the tranny. So, the market wants a manual and I would be shocked if most order a pdk unless forced due to limited numbers.

My bet is about 10% of total production would be a manual but due to the US flipping phenomenon, probably half the US cars will be manual, driving the total over 20%.
If people chose what THEY wanted, not what their friends, egos and investment speculation wanted, 90% would drive pdk.

I don't think so. There are not that much stick lovers left (Natural aging issues. Old people just keep dying.). I don't think 70% of modern GT3 users will prefer stick and clutch pedal to paddle shift. Maybe it's different in US. I've heard it has better healthcare for elder people.
There are SOME younger people who think manual is very "macho", but that's not nearly 70% of GT3 users.

What you are all missing is the feel and sound of the 991.2 compared to the 991.1 GT cars especially the GT3. I owned a 991.1 GT3 and sold it anticipating the 991.2GT3. I bought a 2017 991.2 Targa C4S to tide me over. They are worlds apart when it comes to feel, excitement and sound. I love my Targa but the GT3 provided much more passion and feel. The GT3 is more raw, fun and exciting. The Targa is a pleasure and comfortable to drive and is very competent in performance. But it "ain't" no GT3.
I plan to buy the 991.2 GT3 or the RS if they build one and turn in my Targa.

There's no THAT much flipping hype in Europe. Also GT3 is not an RS. It's just an ordinary car. Cheaper than turbo. I believe most people buy it to drive, not to resale.
Maybe in States it's all different.

We spend a lot of time discussing the manual car, but I'm very interested in whether Porsche will update the PDk-s?
In my experience across all three brands, the pdk-s works better than both the Ferrari and mclaren transmissions. Much more intuitive in automatic mode than the Ferrari (458 speciale on track), and maybe a smidge smoother and faster than the mclaren transmission (570s on road, p1 on track and road). The PDk-s just seems to achieve almost video-game like perfection in all settings.. how could they possibly improve it?
