You may have already looked into this, but, if not, I'd strongly suggest that you check into the laws in the State this dealer is in to make sure that they can legally keep your deposit and, if they can, under what conditions they can do so. Many States have consumer protection laws that preclude it and/or have unjust enrichment statutes that would apply even in the event of a legally enforceable contract. Don't know how much your deposit is or whether it's worth it to you.

Personally, I think dealers should be able to keep a deposit in cases where they take a loss/make less money, etc., due to a cancellation. But keeping it in a situation where they are not out anything, such as where you bring a replacement buyer, is pure BS.

Once rs production halts we will see. I am in agreement that RS will stay warm due to enthusiast base as well as increased number of accessible cars to drivers who previously couldn't or wouldn't drive stick shift RS.

Pretty soon you will see a reverse corollary where guys with nice collections look at 991GT3 like some guys look at a GT4- just a little track beater.

Gt3 will get snapped up "hey its only 150k" and beat to hell. Then the super nice low mile cars will be appreciated. And this will create a floor in the RS market as a result. The same thing will happen there with 918 guys- "oh hey its only 230k for a RS" and then those will all get beat to hell on tracks and crashed.

The super nice or PTS cars will hold strong and once GT2 comes out, RS will still appeal as a track car "well sure it only has 493hp but the GT2 is too fast at 600"...

The only way these things go down is is people start selling them 2nd hand for less than msrp. I think a few of us would just buy up those so fast you would not believe it.

^ +1 - I'm want a second one to drive and beat on, while my PTS one sits in storage. I would be happy if the market trades down short-term so I can pick one up, but I don't think it will happen.

Agreed. Never liked Turbo much or Manual..
But now that I'm a RWS and PDKS convert it seems that the RS could have a bit more torque.

Don't know if I can get one, or even afford it when I can but I'm pretty hot and heavy for a GT2RS if it arrives being a GT3RS with 2 turbo's slapped on.
I wouldn't sell purple, I would add GT2RS but I can see others selling the GT3RS for a GT2RS.

Absolutely 100% dead on, and absolutely 100% why the market clearing price is well above MSRP for these cars. Nothing to do with 'stealerships' or flippers. Demand > Supply = upward price pressure.

^this: I doubt I will get the call but stranger things have happened - dread having to make that decision.

Anybody know if this was sold? If it did I missed it, I saw a white RS sold yesterday at my local dealer for 40k over, MSRP was 179k.

I don't know for certain yet if it is sold but I am working with someone now.

The good news is the dealer will let me provide a substitute buyer so now there isn't the headache of transferring money around and potentially being the second owner. The buyer will be direct with the dealer.

From those folks that have expressed interest, I will be in contact if something happens. The car is landed in the US and will be at the dealership within the next 3-5 days.
