SmartyCam audio recording

This didn't work as well as I had hoped. This is the AIM cable with integrated Mic and SC set with external mic gain set to half. Video will be posted later. Going to run this mic in the arm rest to get it out of the wind. I expect it will suck too.
Still hearing wind on straights.

A/B test. Horrible wind on both tests. First clip is rear mounted in the trunkish area as seen in photos. Second part is with the mic stowed in the arm rest.
Next test has to be fishing the mic into the firewall carpet and seeing how bad that sounds. I expect that it will remove all wind and then sound like a muffled engine. We shall see.
Best option seems to be run out the tail to the rear tow hook. Of course the AIM external mic part doesn't extend that far on the GT4 (or the GT3, I suspect)

Here is a test video I made with the GT3RS using a GoPRO and an external mic (Olympus ME51S) attached to the middle of the license plate. I was not using fur, just a bare mic.
Here is the same setup on my GT350 using a Smarty Cam...
I think the Smarty Cam does a fine job with sound. I will be adding fur to both microphones to eliminate what little wind noise does show up in the recording. I ended up removing the GoPro from the GT3RS and replaced it with another Smarty Cam. The Gopros will be used for rear cameras on both cars along with their own external mics.

V02566240 – CAN Bus + Integrated external microphone harness - L = 4 mt
Where the long end is run up to the dash to plug into the Solo DL. Because of the Y, adding an extension to the SmartyCam isnt going to buy me anything. I should have bought the cable that allows you to plug in any mic you want.

Can someone tell me how they are setting the gain (there are now manual settings on the smartycam menu) for the external mic for best effect. Before the software patch the auto gain would leave a line hum at low volume (usually before getting out on the track when the engine volume would drown it). Now with the manual gain i have it set half way but the sound pick up seems worse than before?

Buy a mic with a longer cable.
I have used this one before with good success.

It's calculated gear based on RPM and speed.
Set Solo DL up in RS2 Configuration by specifying number of gears. Then you will have to run a calibration in your car.
Getting There
Menu>
System Management>
Restart Gear Calib>
Let System Clear, Exit All Menus>
Calibration
Start driving while going through all gears across a reasonably wide rpm range -- smoothly without any hard launches or wheel spins. Note: after calibration, gear position cannot be displayed at low RPM, i.e. < 1,500. Check your gear calibration by setting up a custom screen displaying gear position.
