Is that normal? I've never seen/heard that, even on my 991.1 TTS.

Why would the valves close between 1000 and 3000 rpm with the exhaust button pressed?

On a side note the car sounds awesome ... other than this odd gap in the rev range.
Normal.

I'd really appreciate it if someone that owns a 2RS can put my mind at ease on this subject.

Sorry for the poor pic quality but the vid shows what I mean. As you can see/hear the exhaust is open under 1600rpm, then closes, then reopens at 3000.
This is with the exhaust button pressed open.
Hard to pick up on it at the beginning of the video but you can really hear it on the last acceleration at around 40 seconds.

I don't understand why it would close the flaps in that small rev range when I have it set to open.

Yes, it's normal. And all GT's do some version of this flap opening and closing

Thanks.

Yup, my other GT cars also didn't fully open up until hitting a certain rpm threshold ... but none of them started open, then closed, then reopened again.

Actually they all do that in sport-exhaust mode. U just may not have noticed it as much on the NA engines? The turbo goes pretty dead quiet in the flaps-closed range.

It's because there is a resonance that is excited when revs are in that range - it's to prevent a droning sound in the cabin...

There should at least be an option for all open.

There is: plug the solenoids. But I would suggest that with the stock exhaust; too much drone with solenoids plugged. Would need some aftermarket exhaust solution that does better with the drone in that rpm section.

I loved idling the 2RS at 80-90mph with the flaps open. The sound is just amazing when the turbos not are loading!

Scares the **** out of the passed cars.

Some of the drone might be a right/left node so leaving one side active and one side open might be enough to reduce drone but still have more sound

Love my 2RS put about 500 miles on it in about two days but sticking to the proper break-in. The 2RS is way better than the 3RS hands down. The sound this makes in Sport mode with the exhaust engaged is absolutely incredible.

But but but its a turbo...it can't possibly compare to the 9k of the 4.0, only Porsche GT cars with NA engines sound good, who likes vacuums!
