I'd reach for the RS keys every time.
But I'm the exception that drives the RS to work, auto, nav, radio, blue tooth, all very comfy.. No bend in sight.
Than at the track, lower tire pressure = CUP car + few hundred pounds.. Lap a couple days, add pressure, drive back..

I never drive in auto, always manual PDK mode and on the track shift around 8600 , I still manage to get around the circuit ahead the bulk of the crowd
shifting the car . I recently for the first time tried PDK sport auto on the track
and perhaps need to give more than a 30 min chance but was not quicker
and not happy with motor spooling up to 9k every shift.
I know the R is Manual and 4.0 motor, compared to my 3.8; just saying
unotaz
most impressive stable one many including myself can dream of
congrats on such success !!

It's not funny...I didn't want the GT3 or GT3RS because it was PDK only...I wanted a manual, analog car that is about excitement and enjoyment rather than speed. Now it looks like it's all going to collectors with fat check books who normally do not buy manual transmission cos it's too much work, and will keep them locked away as investments...I think Porsche is losing the plot. I put a deposit in cos I really wanted a car like this....but it'll go to the guys who bought the 918, and a few other Porsches...

The RS redline is 8600, not sure if only from 3rd or 2nd gear, so I doubt the R would redline at 8800 in anything above first.
It doesn't really matter for times, but I do regret it a little for effect.

If the R wasn't limited production, few would care.

I agree. Honestly, what exactly in the R that is revolutionary?
RS engine, 6 MT transmission, what?!
$190k?
If you want purity to the core, buy an air cooled porsche with none of this BS rear wheel steering, PCCB etc.
In the line up for porsche right now, the nearest to purity is a basic manual carrera. I maybe the minority but this R is from the spin doctors at porsche.
There is one more porsche that I would aim for, and that is a SINGER. I hope in the next 3years, unless they go under, I would order one.
If porsche wants to go back to purity, make another air cooled 500 hp porsche, I will sell my second home just for it. Otherwise, they better cook something new with the R. Something more than second hand part.
