Matte Carbon GT3RS
Hi there... so in the last few months, i have actually been in contact with Daniel from DB Carbon, Germany for them to actually make some of my GT3RS parts in matte carbon.

A very nice guy to talk with and he always reply to my needs and questions and emails instantly.
i have actually ordered every single exterior parts that are in black plastic from the front splitter to the wheel arch vent to the side intake vent to rear engine cover to rear lips.
Their workmanship is top notch and this i believe is the first GT3RS carbon maker as they have built this for me back in October 2015 and given how this world works these days... i haven't sat in my RS for months.

How much weight did this save you? How much thinner is your wallet?
Aren't you concerned about the front splitter? I consider mine a disposable item but in CF, it wouldn't be disposable price.

Thank you for sharing alberthyc. I looked at the website and did not find the equivalent carbon fiber for the 991 GT3RS front fender air vents and the rear fender air intake. I will email and see if they have it in the works. There is another company in Europe "Techart" who have these items I mentioned and would like to compare pricing.

The dbcarbon pieces are not replacement carbon fibre pieces, they are the OEM pieces with carbon fibre overlay on top.
The Techart are replacement carbon pieces with a corresponding reduction in weight.
I've ordered pieces from both, I have the full Techart kit coming for my RS, from memory it was in the region of €6,500. Also ordered the engine cover from dbcarbon with a matte carbon overlay.
Both great companies to deal with.

their products are full replacement parts whereby they purchase the original parts and carbon it and so on...

Unfortunately, given the cost of proper mold tools (usually best in metal) and the cost of laying up the carbon fiber cloth, real carbon parts, particularly in small quantities and particularly if they are first rate (most for sale in the aftermarket are not) are expensive.
Another point, however, is that real carbon fiber parts can splinter, particularly in an accident, and the resulting carbon fiber splinters are as sharp as knifes. Hence, in a crash, if one of the interior real carbon fiber pieces cracks and the force of the crash pushes you into it, you could be stabbed to death. Given this, in certain applications, Kevlar should be mixed in for tear resistance.
