Do you think Porsche will allow us to upgrade these components to match that of the G engines: "The new G series GT3 engine is based on the GT3RS engine with a different oil filter, larger filter neck and updated oil pump and software flash which increases mid range oil pressure. "

How does one check to see which engine they have? I assume it is stamped somewhere??

As a side note I went to a special event for Job's racing Heart of Seattle team. I spoke with the guys about the new engine and they are very satisfied with it and the car. One of the drivers told me that Porsche stops by and flashes the cars frequently. Looks like Porsche Motorsports is really staying on top of the new car and engine. As of the other day they turned the fastest time so far, now mind you nobody is really showing their hand so no weight restrictions are added to the cars. We shall see in a few days how Daytona works out.
Great insight Macca.

Your vin #, and engine S/N# are on sticker in two places
1- right side inside front hood
2-right side inside engine hood

Guys, I'm travelling internationally but had the misfortune to experience the issue and remedies first hand last week. I'll update everyone when I can by way if a seperate thread when I have time.

It's my opinion you can not make the E series engine as robust as the G as there are internal oiling changes...

It might be speculation but it sounds like they have changed something because they would have had the standard (old?) GT3 filters. They did anyway when I changed the oil in the 3.
For my oil change (16 GT3) my dealer also did not have the filter in stock so didn't change it. They got one in a couple of weeks and went back to get it changed. The filter for the RS and '16 GT3 are the same, a different part number from the '14 and '15 GT3s. Sounds like the neck on the block is also different.

My vin and sticker in the engine hood show an F. I have an early build MY15 ( October '14). Anybody knows when the switch over to F happened? After the Stop sale? Or with the change in model year?

So are we with E engines (I'm assuming everyone with '14 and '15) screwed? Should we try very hard to run the engines down to get new ones before the warranty expires? I'm joking, of course, but if the issue is significant, it sucks...

I also have an early '15 (Nov 14 delivery). F in the VIN. If truly a design issue, then the increase mid range oil pressure is just a band aid. Porsche should just replace with the new design. At least an extended warranty would be nice.

^^JUST in time
same for me "F", my build completed last week Of October/14 left the factory on my Birthday
How bout that B-day present !

Guys think there's any merit or relevance to sequence E, F, G, ?

(My engine as I suspect many here was not on the TSB list for flash for oil / plug update .)

Macca, forgive me for my lack of knowledge on this topic but you talk about the E and G engine, when it's clear there are F engines out there. Any info on the F engines regarding this issue?

Thanks Macca for that insight.

In Porsche VINs, the 10th position letter gives the model year:

2014 = E
2015 = F
2016 = G

From what I'm reading here, it sounds like at least the MY2016 cars may have had some engine changes made, but does anyone know if that change took effect with a particular model year? Or could it have occurred part way through a model year?

I'm also an "F".

R. Deacon, Care to share your oil analysis?
