Towing with U-Haul Auto Transport
Has anyone tried towing with a U-Haul auto transport? I'm guessing I'd need some nice long race ramps? Does anyone have a suggestion?

I did this recently with my 997.2 C2S. Barely fit even with boards. No chance you could move a 991 GT3 without ripping up the underside and the doors. Don't try it.

I towed my 997 GT3 on a uhaul and it BARELY fits in the width. The 991 GT3 will not fit (nor will any RS) because of the wider rear track.
By the way, I use A LOT of planks, boards, 4x4s in order to get the GT3 on there.

Don't do it you will sandblast your car. How far are you looking to go.

Make a deal with a guy with a flatbed tow truck. I bet you could get er done for 300 bucks. Got any buddies with a race trailer..

I towed my GT3 500 miles and did not have any such issue. The trailer is pretty tall relative to the low deck of the uhaul moving truck I used. It would take some pretty determined stones to hit the car.
The photos of loading the car aren't impressive, but we had to play tetris with lumber. You also have to climb through the window to get out.

Sand blasting is a huge problem, ask anybody that has a motor home and tows a car behind it.

I back the truck up on rhino ramps then use 6ft race ramps at the end of the uhaul ramps. Then I put wood a the front of the trailer to lift the car so it doesn't hit the wheel stops when straping down.
Yes its a pain but there's no chance of hitting bottom or shooting out wood planks.

As for sandblasting, I hadn't heard that from the existing people towing their cars to the track on open trailers... I put a fair amount of traktape on the front, which would probably address most of the issues?

When I towed my 997 C2S with the U-haul trailer, I put a car cover on my 997, and a tarp on top of that. Secured with rope and bungees. Towed it from coast to coast behind a U haul truck without a problem two weeks ago. Shipped my 991 GT3 separately in an enclosed truck carrier.
Now that I just moved to LA, I gotta figure out what to do about the front license plate situation before I register my cars in CA.
I so don't want to drill the front bumpers on either car, and I don't want to use a front plate on my GT3 which looks so good without a front plate.
