Yes RS has noticeable more torque and power and the engine revs so much faster.

The GT4 actually feels better around the corners than my RS.

From a driving enjoyment perspective GT4 is more engaging and fun but the RS is pure business.

As I get older, it seems I get more focused on the pure viseral feel of the driving experience, i.e. manual transmission, light weight, balanced cummunicative chassis, etc. As long as the power is reasonable, I don't care as much as I used to about monster horsepower, crazy high tech hybrid powertrains and all that. Understanding that cars like this (GT4) may become harder and harder to find, I really respect Porsche for having it in their lineup.

Evo totally gets it when it comes to sorting through all the crap out there and finding the true gems. These guys really seem to get it when it comes to reviewing cars from the point of view of the driving enthusiast.

You guys all want to go out and buy a 964 or 993 as you get older then. Like the GT4 but dialled us a few notches (especially in the steering department) :-)

Great article.

I wish every carmaker would strive to make something equivalent to the GT4. I would love to see the pendulum swing away from the 1000 hp, 10 speed DCT, 4000 lb, turbo beasts to cars that are balanced, light, thoroughly engaging.

Of all the cars offered with a warranty these days, the GT4 is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Porsche and AP for not giving in.

It's going to be really hard to let it go when the 991.2 GT3 arrives...I might just keep it and drop the GT3...
But then again,I'm sure the GT3 will be epic with a manual...

And even harder when they release the cayman gt4rs with a little more power.
Wouldn't be surprised if it turns up with a 430hp engine and similar weight to the gt4 @$115-125k.
Only downside is that it will probably be turbocharged.

911 is unfortunately getting to big.

GT4RS would be cool, but Porsche keeps downplaying the idea...perhaps they're hiding something...? Anyway, they wouldn't need to turbocharge it,the current engine is perfectly capable of developing 430HP. I mean,it does it in the Powerkit 911s without a problem...
