991 GT3 RS - first impressions
Finally had a chance to see/pick-up the 991 GT3 RS today (car arrived at dealer 8/17/15). Had dealer do delivery for the wife. Going to pick it up on the next sunny day.
* excuse the crappy pictures; I'll update this OP with good detailed shots when I actually take delivery of the car *
SPECS (kept it simple):
- white exterior color
- black leather interior w/alcantera
- headlight cleaning system covers painted
- 90L fuel tank
- wheels painted in satin black
- passenger footwell storage net
- smoking package
- full bucket seats
- sound package plus
ALIGNMENT SPECS (thanks to Orthojoe; basing off his 991 GT3 setup - gotta start somewhere):
- sway bars: front bar one setting stiffer than middle; rear settings at middle position
- front camber: -2.6 if possible; or closest to that number without rubbing (on 991 GT3, if more than -2.3 degrees in front, caster is pushed too far forward and will end up rubbing fender liner)
- rear camber: at -2.4
- front caster at 9.5
- front toe at 1mm toe out each side (total 2mm toe out)
- rear toe at 3mm toe in each side (total 6mm toe in)
INITIAL THOUGHTS (perspective from a previous 6.2 GT3, 7.1 GT3 RS, 7.2 GT3 and 7.2 GT3 RS owner):
EXTERIOR:
- Size: car looks huge; much more presence than I initially thought even from magazines/videos
- Design Elements: the rear wing uprights are finally high enough; doesn't block your rear view vision like 7.2 RS (would have bought the Baron Uprights if I kept the cars); not used to the side air intakes on NA cars (alluding to turbo GT3 soon?)
- Color Combination: white exterior with black wheels and uprights integrate all the black exterior design accents; red calipers and OEM lights look great together; yellow side markers haven't arrive yet; however, this color combo is NOT photogenic at all
INTERIOR:
- ERGONOMICS/INSTRUMENTS: this is positive surprise for me; well designed and intuitive; bright lights, but not intrusive; still very driver oriented; was concerned the car would be too busy; I love the simplicity/functionality of the 997s
- MATERIALS (black leather and alcantera interior): another positive; this car finally has the interior to match the price tag (the 996 interior was undesirable; the 997 was functional and nice with enough Porsche Exclusive options); the standard CF trim, door sills, to underneath the hood to the engine cover, this car's interior cabin feels ready for a long road trip; quality of the leather/alcantera are superb; deviated stitching adds character as well
* this pic is out of focus, but only pic of interior while she was getting the delivery spiel *
Will give real thoughts on city driving, spirited drive along sea-to-sky hwy (highway from Vancouver to Whistler), and track (Pacific Raceways on 9/11; don't think I'll be able to make the 9/4 Ridge trackday I signed up for) and update this post; hopefully within the next week.

stephen you are modest as usual -- i would not say the car in this color combo is not photogenic
i think it shows the shape beautifully, the basic shape is very proportioned and the white shows the curves very nicely...wide shoulders hips lots of presence...black accents look great!
yes the 991 is BIG...like they had a whole marching band stick straws in a 997 and blow blow blow it up lol
well, have fun breaking it in and keeping the revs down hahaha ... that was the single hardest thing about my owning my 991 gt3 so far...by a long shot!
btw greta doing great... just get her new cat today, now trying to clear all obd codes and then off to the cali smog station!

Bad pictures? Looks pretty good to me.
Yes, car much more extreme in person. Inside luxo barge I can stretch legs I love it.
Still don't like the grey air vents. should be black.
Silver or black seta belts?
Black wheels look much better in real life than on pics but nice build, simple clean the way it should be. Its comforting to know you have one of your own already so I don't have to look over my shoulder ;-)
Get your *** to The Ridge.

Congrats Stephen. Can't wait for the feedback after Sea to Sky and The Ridge. I'll stand by my initial prediction that you are going to love this car.
