The front axle lift is a must have.

Agreed...

One more angle..

3K is pretty good chunk of green regardless of how much money you make IMO. Personally I think it's odd we pour over weights of these cars and discuss at length lightweight seats, wheels etc. and then add (13lbs) and the complexity of a (electro-pneumatic) lift on the car. I'll replace the splitter before I sell it or when necessary. It's also money towards track time, pads, tires...

My wife met me for lunch this week and having arrived at the restaurant before her, I had the pleasure of watching (and hearing) her "wonk" the nose of the car into the parking lot. It isn't just speed bumps, it is the angles...

This is from that lunch this week, can you see the scrapes on her "chin":

Husband of the year...wife gets a GT3 too.

Even if you need it only once or twice, you'll be grateful to have it. Likely you'll use it more often than that. To me, its an obvious choice.

Front axle lift is not 100lbs.

More like 13lbs. Equivalent of about 2 gallons of gas.

It's also not hydraulic. It's an electro-pneumatic system.

Depends on where and how you drive.

Never had it. Wouldn't buy a GT3 with it.

Its funny how prospective Porsche owners complain about the cost of a lift....lucky Speciale owners who ordered the Nart stripe, pay $12k for that Privilege....lol

Question

Well, thank you all for the feedback. Most of my scraping in the past was done while parking. This is not a daily driver and I think there is less than a 50% chance where I drive that I would need the lift. Nonetheless i can see where I might need the extra clearance.

The real issue is whether I pass on the car because it does not have the lift. Absent this the purchase price is decent and they are giving me a good price on my trade. However, I am concerned about resale and I can see the need for the lift.

There are other GT3s out there but I may have to pay more and sell my car on my own. I will have to think this over.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I daily drive my GT3 and don't have the lift. I have no regrets not having the lift. At least for me, it's not worth the cost.

I hope it works out for you. We should thank you for the chance to vent our opinions on this subject again. We haven't had a good front axle lift discussion (can't live without it - would never buy a GT3 with one) in at least a couple of months!

My 458 lip is Almost 2" higher than the gt3 with lift up and less overhang. I measured it before I traded her. GT3 really needs of lift for most drivers.

me too, on any of my gt3's with lift - if u have a gt3 without lift you will just have a scraped up front lip at the edges before long if you live in any kind of an urban or suburban environment , and if you care about how the car looks you will replace the lip fairly often - but of course you don't have to have it

in fact i have 997.1 gt3 and a 997.2 gt3 without lifts so they do scrape reasonably often - i like my cars to look very clean so it bugs the **** out of me when that happens but hey that's life...i really wanted the cars so i sleeps in the bed i makes
