what will you buy if you cant get a GT3RS
#61
If I can't get a .1RS, I'll just wait for a .2RS while I drive the 4 great Porsches that I have already.

Keep the GT3 ......it will come around at the right price. Not jumping into the feeding frenzy .....just drives the hype.

History says if you really want anything (most), be patient and things will eventually come up, even a used RS in time. Now if you wanted it to order, that may be a different story.

best cars out there currently in same stratosphere:
very new barely used: huracan, 650S, "regular" 991GT3, Mono, GT4, atom, SLS Black Series, Zo6, R8 V10plus, GTR Nismo
huracan and 650S are fantastic cars. I put 16k miles on my 12C coupe. Loved it but it was an early model and had little things that the 650 has improved a ton. Have driven new 650 on track and in one day was blown away with all the improvements. Huracan is a better can IN EVERY WAY than the 458. Spent right around 1000 miles in each one and would take the lambo by a mile.
SLS chassis is really easy to fling around, act like a jerk and drift, scare your friends etc. fun fun fun. probably not going to sustain the black series pricing (300k or so) but for 150 or so on a used one? sure why not.
Mono and Atom are really not the same type of cars but hey if you drive on the track this is as good as it gets.
GT4 is half price to everything on here, and will do 80-90% of the thrill for that discounted price.
Zo6, GTR nismo are very similar in that they are cheaper than 200k and can go really really fast with compromised ergonomics compared to euro cars. neither is really perfect but they are uniquely terrifying.
R8 is really just a detuned Lambo with a better dealer network and easier price and social circle issues. very approachable, respectable, maybe a little too vanilla for the price but you can never beat driving a 560hp mid engined car.
little more used or little older: 3.8RS, 430Scud, 964 RS America, 993 TT, 360CS, 3.6 Gt3RS,
GT3RS is obviously worth more than current GT3, therefore it is a little better "long run" vehicle. same with 430 scud and all the others on this list. because they are slightly older (still fast as crap obviously) you won't get the soclal stigma afforded to the aventador driver.
just depends on where you want your collectable/approachable/terrifying arrow to point to.
don't come on the GT3 board and talk about restomod Camaros and expect any traction LOL.
I am text message buddies with the current BAC guy. he is in bay area and will be bringing the mono around to track days. He drives it with dealer plates which is rad.
for the record I have driven all these cars except the mono and GT4 but I just spec'd mine out so I am getting my GT4 soon. you really have a great choice to make- all these cars are fun in their own way.

I hear you, but look at the historical prices on the RS vs. 12C's. You can get a 12C for 150k three years old with low miles, and a 2010 RS is MSRP or better was just my point. I love the 650, but not at the price point and walking in the door they will discount 80k too much supply they're sitting on the lots collecting dust. Car stuff is crazy ........

depends on what you are looking for if you can't get a 991 GT3 RS. Are you a car and coffee guy, dedicated collector or serious track rat. So there are tons of options
Back to 991 GT3 performance. I ran with orthojoe and Ben couple times and they are the fastest 991 GT3 I have come across. It has tremendous acceleration and straight line speed but ultimate record lap time is hamper by lack of 18" and 19" slick selection. Once a proper slick option can be found for 991 GT3 it will be hard to beat. Will someone drive their 991 GT3 RS ***** out like 991 GT3 or past 997 GT3 RS? I highly doubt it due to high admission price
