This is weird. My car has developed the exact same thing about two weeks ago. It's subtle, but annoying.

Well, I couldn't take waiting, so I looked at the aero pan under the engine. It has a lip all the way around it. It's secured using rubber grommets between the screws and the mount points. The thing vibrates. And inside this pan were a handful of pebbles that must have been thrown up into it at some point. I suspect that is the problem because if i tap the pan, and it vibrates, the same noise comes from it.

So remove your aero pan and see if you have any gravel in there. I suspect you'll find some.

That's genius. I bet that is exactly it! I'll drop mine this weekend and report back.

I've been digging handfuls of stones from that tray for 18 months. All the loose chip from our chip seal roads gets thrown in there after bouncing around the rear wheel wells....I bet that's what it is...

It collects a ton of debris in there. Very well could be the issue. I just rev higher to drown it out.

Is there a way to secure it, or modify it to solve the problem?

Install an aftermarket bypass?

Darn rattle trap! Removed and verified that high frequency vibration is gone! There are two plastic retainers in the pan. These retainers have center pins that need to be pushed through. Make sure you retain those as you'll need to push them back in once you're done putting the Aero cover back on.

Your hearing must be better than my Siamese! Here is what I had removed (although mine were covered in tar so didn't move about much - made a stocky mess that took the tech a few hours to clean up tho!)!

So I found the source of the vibration. It's not little pebbles. It has been getting progressively more pronounced.

Appears that it's the solenoid for the exhaust valve on the left side. Not sure what the mechanical components are in there, but I'm going to schedule a service appointment.

Here's a short video:
