Garage Project w/Lift and RaceDeck
After buying my 991 GT3, and seeing all sorts of clean and practical garages on the various forms, I bit the bullet and made some changes to the garage.
I'm now waiting on my Bendpak HD-9 lift to come in (ordered it in black).
Initial Garage setup:
Cleaned up and ready for the job:
Demolition of existing components. They left the 2x8 trusses in place until the 14" LVL's were installed one at a time. I had a constraint on the height due to windows being in the second floor.
LVLs being installed... 22' 14" LVL's are HEAVY. Took 4 grown men to put them in place.
LVLs in place. New floor raised 16" upstairs.
A new wall was added to an already large room. With existing air conditioning and power, this becomes a great climate controlled storage room (or my teenage son's future room).
Final structural view from garage:
Drywall installed and knockdown being put in:
Upstairs finished:
RaceDeck in place... This stuff is awesome!
High-lift door to be fitted with Liftmaster 8500:
997 waiting for lift:
I went with 4' LED Light fixtures from Home Depot. Worked out very well and the garage is illuminated quite nicely.

Very nice! Love seeing these projects! Please post more when you get the lift...
Sorry, just realized my question about raising floor in space above was answered in the pics....
Oh, and if you haven't already, make sure you start a Garage Journal...

Thanks! Already did... That forum is what got me started on this project. All one has to do is go to that gallery. I suddenly felt my garage was seriously inadequate and needed a face lift.

Are the posts for the lift going to sit outside of the flooring? Or can the flooring support the lift?
Is this for the purpose of parking one car above another or for working on a car? This looks like a less expensive and space saving alternative to making an addition to the house for another car.
Seeing pictures of cars parked above other cars makes me nervous. I wonder if anyone ever secures the posts to the walls to prevent the lift from falling over. Earthquakes are rare here but they have happened.

I'm not worried about stability. the 4 post unit supports 9,000 pounds. The RS is well below that and if something ever happens, that is what insurance is for. I'm more worriednabout being rear ended by a distracted driver than anything else.
If one has the room for it, it is a great solution.
Thanks for all the compliments.
Ill post pics of the lift once i install it in a couple weeks. just installed one at my buddies house a couple weeks ago. He keeps his 64 lincoln above his 15 cayman gts.

Wow, makes me want to do my garage. Do you have a 2-car or 3-car garage?
