My Track Impressions 991 GT3
#16
This straight has a slight sweeper to the right that I was hitting at about 150 to 155, it also drops down slightly and is slightly off camber on exit. It felt great in every other part of the track, but the pucker factor was pretty high hitting this corner with the throttle floored and the car feeling unsettled.

Agreed on the odd squishy pedal feel. A flush with Torque fluid (very low compressibility) did not significantly improve it. The car will stop, but the amount of pedal travel does not leave me feeling confident.
I'm still on stock pads though...

Big is relative. It appears the seats are better suited for larger drivers....I am happy about that. Recaros felt like vises on my hips.

FWIW, I find the car to feel a bit 'floaty' at times, perhaps due to the relatively low spring rates and trying to compensate for that by rapidly adjusting damping in real time. Doesn't feel like a track-only suspension, and it takes some getting used to, but once that happens I find that it's not too hard to keep the car feeling reasonably settled.
Floaty ? My 996.3 felt much more floatier (light) in the front end than my 991.3.

I agree on most of your observations. the steering is so insulated, when i wore gloves, i couldnt get a good feel for feedback. Went without them for the two days at sebring.
I kept my 997 RS and garage renovation starts monday so i can install a lift.

Was considering a 991gt3 after driving it I'm back to a 997... Don't get me wrong, wonderful machine, but felt too big, steering felt too numb, overall car felt less of an extension of the body... Shifting was superb, so was the build quality... Just a bit too large and synthesized for my taste...

I took out the GT3 for a few 10-15 minute sessions at the open track day on Thursday just to get a baseline for what it can do. Man, I was only going about 7/8th and was able to run a 1:59 which I'd need Hoosiers on the 997.2RS to run as fast. I'm sure I could have easily taken another 1-2 seconds off that time with more seat time. Braking could have used more bite as mentioned...I think a set of good pads and fluid fix that. The RWS seems to give you a lot more slide angle going into turns. I think the nannies blipped on twice in the 20-25 minutes that I had the car on the track. I could tell that Spyerx was enjoying himself behind the wheels.

I've noticed that too in your old RS. I think it's the Stoptechs. They always stop. Never and issue, but the pedal just goes deeper.
