I understand, I was in the same place when it comes to my boys safety in this car. One of the reasons I sold my 2014 GT3 and ordered the 2015 was so I could get the LWB seats. I took almost 2 months to get the thumbs down from Porsche Germany and PNA confirming no children in the LWB's. I will try to get name of the person for PNA that finalized the answer on the LWB's for the 991 GT3.

They have sensors, but they don't de-activate the airbags with a 40 lb child in the seat as the other seats do.

As much as I REALLY want those LWB seats and realize the chances of having an accident with my kid in the car and having the airbags be an issue is next to nil, I would NEVER forgive myself.

Still hoping the GT4 LWB are a different matter.

Thanks to all for their responses.
Contact name is Adam Miller. He is the Tequipment product manager. This is the person that finalized no children allowed in the 991 GT3 LWB's. Have your dealership call him, he will know.

Weird, you would think that my car would have come with big bright red flashing lights that said, don't let a child ride in the seats. Does it say that somewhere? I guess we are living risky, because he rides in it all the time. What is the age or weight cutoff? There are some women that way 95 lbs.

And when I picked up my car, the dealer helped buckle my kid into his booster in the front seat. Very interesting.

I think some of the SA's out there are clueless. I never asked about the weight cutoff, I was just told no children in the LWB's, all the other seats work.

When my GT3 finally arrives. On the passenger side might swap out a LWB for a couch. I can always drop in the LWB for the track.

These booster seats fit in the buckets just fine. I use them in my spyder and GT3

Sorry Joe, I have the same booster seat. Only for the 18 way/couch. Glen Anderson, the GM at Porsche of San Diego called Adam Miller. I really wanted the LWB seats, but Adam said no kids, booster or any other kind of child seats allowed.

Porsche will not deactivate the airbag. See memo below:

Child seat required, at least in CA, for height of 4' 9" and age 8. I hadn't seen anything regarding weight.

This is the one I use.

Porsche Junior Plus Seat, G2 + G3For children in Groups 2 and 3 (approx. 3.5 - 12 years or 33 - 79 pounds). In the unique Porsche design.
The seat can only be fastened with the vehicle seat belt.
With height-adjustable headrest and width-adjustable seat surface. Extra-high side bolsters offer optimum side impact protection.

I believe this seat is several generations old of the Kiddy brand that I posted earlier. My SA offered me one for free and I passed as I really like my current seats - he asked to see them and thinks they also make this one.

The Kiddy and Cybex seats are both crash tested by ADAC using seat belts only - Kiddy also lists their seats as suitable for front seat usage, I've not checked the Cybex ones out as much as I ordered the Kiddy seats.

The Air Bags in the front 100% deactivate in the LWBs, it's a DoT requirement.

im confused. i am reading about many rennlisters with kids that ride in the front seat of their gt3... does that mean if the air bag goes off all our kids will die? or just the ones riding in lwb seats? why just those seats?

When my son is in the LWBs at the front the air bag off light is illuminated - so I'm assuming the airbag won't go off. The GT3 is the 3rd string child transport for me, so I've only had him it in twice but both times I checked the light to make sure it was illuminated.

I don't get the posts of the LWBs not being suitable for child seats when the sofas are? Neither comes with isofix attachments (.e.g the R8 does, you can get it as an accessory to the Cayman), so I don't see what the difference would be here. If anything, the LWBs should be more rigid in an impact given the lack of hinge - it also hugs the seat I use much better than a regular seat.
