Your facts are a bit off. The 458 held its price VERY well since its release and just recently has started coming down in price due to the 458 Speciale and 458T announcement. I'd hardly call that depreciating quickly. Also, Ferrari and McLaren stated up front they were only making X number of cars and they sold out in the blink of an eye.

Exactly! 918s have NOT sold well and definitely not quickly. Yes, they are selling, but if you want one you could get one.

Iirc, base price of 997.2RS was 132k. It was priced between the turbo and the turbo S. Based on that , price of the new 991 RS should be around 160-170k If the new RS is a 4.0, then I could see 180k as many predicted

Actually Macca I was thinking the same thing but had trouble getting my head wrapped around it.

918man has no axe to grind with respect to the 991 GT3; he owns one and has an RS spot locked up and is a 918 customer.

His dealer would be foolish to pass along nonsense to a prestige customer, and it would seem they would not do so without some basis.

The RS availability and cutting of GT3 production change in protocol could be a VW thing. Heck, one could argue that complete engine replacement + extended warranty + $12k in compensation was driven by VW management rather than PAG, since PAG has shown extraordinary arrogance in the past with respect to build issues.

Who knows.

But I have heard 220-250 for the total number of RS.1's coming to the US, and no official unveiling until January-ish. So, if only the current 14's are completed and those 15's already allocated, it wouldn't be a huge stretch I guess.

But the price component of the OP's rumor makes no sense.

If the OP is right, it's going to suck for those who passed on the 14 and tried to get a 15 allocation. I kept my 14 b/c I didn't see a clear path to getting a 15 locked up. Having taken delivery of my car, I'm glad I stayed with my gut and didn't succumb to all the sewing circle hand-wringing seen on these boards.

Anyway, some MY2015s have already been released. As stated, production may be ending, but to just state it's ending without a date is a little misleading.

Assuming you add some options, taxes and fees puts this car close to $300K range and what you will get is a bigger wing and a lighter roof and few extra horses.. No thank you.
Personally I think the last allocation that was released to dealers couple weeks ago might have been the last one and Feb end date seems logical. They will work on .2 to be released later just like past.

First of all; the GT3 production will end in Feb. This has been communicated by Corporate. When this was conveyed to me by a GM he said it came from the top. We know they will then begin Production on the RS. He said the RS will be even harder to get because it will be a very limited run and the 918 guys also get first right of refusal. My dealer in not small by any means and they think they will only get a few after the 918 guys get their option. Price was never discussed. $235,000 seems about $35,000 too much. I figured around $200,000 tops. But, they do need to make up for the bath on the GT3 and also every one now comparing the GT3 to the Speciale which is over the $300,000 mark. It will be interesting when pricing is announced. Until then we can argue until we are blue in the face. But, if you do not think they will sell every one of them you are nuts - they will

What do u need to know. Go check my posts. Yea i m wasting my time posting stuff about how i just ordered 918. Asking for options. Rattle in my door on drivers side. Etc etc. believe what you want. I have a gt3. 918 owner. Car coming in april and may and a gt3 rs allocation. I was only passing along what i heard so everyone could have knowledge. Thats it. Do with it as you choose

They sold out because there were only 300 to sell which is a third of porsches.

I dont really care anyway. You wont own a 918 so what does it matter and you wont own the other cars. Point is dont say what a supercar purchase is until you have owned one. My point is its not a impulse purchase and i have owned a 458. Great car but its nowhere near the 918. In fact the gt3 in my opinion is better.

They will sell all the RS's. Most specials are 350k or so although you can option one up if you want.

I don't want a car with an edge that hard for the street. I think the GT3 will be perfect. YMMV.
