Ending production
#16
All i am saying is that the dealership owner is a personal friend. I just hung up the phone w him. He said he spoke w pcna about it. Definitely 235k. Not a mark up. Gt3 production ending.
Thats what i know.

the only thing I am absolutely sure about is GT3 allocations that will be built in the beginning of the year (i.e. Feb, etc.). If "end production" means that they are going to take all the customers with configured cars and just hit a big red button on the line, I highly doubt it. Take no more orders? I could see that. I am dealing with PCNA and a dealer owner too. Maybe there is some nuance for interpretation here? Depending on what you meant exactly by "they are ending production". Sure, they could make an announcement that they aren't taking any more GT3 orders. I could see that. But they will be producing through the beginning of the year from what I understand. Cant speak to the RS part.

I was told a manual tranny is not out of the question for the RS 6 months ago...
But alas, this all happened with the 2007 GT3RS. PCNA and Dealers said to be limited production, one year only. Never to be again. Cars went for crazy price over MSRP.... but then came the 2008s... then the 2010s and 2011s...
would take anything a dealer or PCNA says with a grain of salt nowadays...

^ dealers will say anything to drive up sales.
Only reason for a $235k price tag is if this is truly the last year for a normally aspirated engine. 4.0 producing >500hp and limited numbers, less than 500. Or re-introduce the mezger 4.0 with sequential. I'd love to see this as the 4.0 cars will drop like a rock. Would Porsche care? probably not.

Dealer info regarding pricing is incorrect, no doubt. Details of RS production dates, with or without pricing, will be released to GMs and dealerships in October. Anything else is simply a rumor.

The recent appreciation of the 997 GT3 RS and positive feedback on the 991 GT3 is helping Porsche justify the exclusive $235k price of the 991 RS. Either way, the low supply of 500 only for the US will create the demand. As a result, this will setup the demand for the upcoming 991.2 (or 992) GT3 and the resale of the 991 GT3.

If I have my numbers right, the 997 (all numbers stock MSRP, no options)
997 Turbo S: 135k USD
997 GT3 RS: 150k USD
So if we project to the 991 generation using the 997 TTS/GT3RS as a ratio:
991 Turbo S: 185k USD
991 GT3 RS: ?
Based on the historical 997 ratios, 235k is a bit high, but not out of the question silly.
