Yeah, it's a supercharged LT4 small block. 6.2L, special supercharging technology I don't understand, but 620hp 650lb/ft torque. It's going to be a beast.

There is nothing NA from Porsche that will keep up on the track for sure, short of a new Cup car. Okay, I'll preface that likely inflammatory comment with a TBD. I think it will be fun to see the 991 GT3 and GT3 RS run with a C7 Z06 on the track, but I just don't see how a 100+hp disadvantage is going to be overcome, especially considering how well the C7 handles. The C7 Z06 will handle even better with bigger meats underneath and invariably some suspension tweaks, plus Brembo carbon ceramic brakes available as an option. It's going to be very hard to beat a C7 Z06 on track. I'll have fun trying with my very lightly track modded C6 ZR1.

Does a 918 count? Not sure how to classify that, but not FI...

haha, good point. Yeah, a 918 will smoke a C7 Z06. So, the 918 is an NA V8, but do the electric motors mean it's not really NA? Not sure how to classify hybrid supercars either. I guess we'll need a new class besides FI and NA. HSC (hybrid super car?)

100 hp per blown liter isn't that exciting. Great torque though.

Ah, you're one of those guys that would prefer a 140hp/ltr engine to show how technologically advanced and awesome it is compared to a POS pushrod V8. haha. Different strokes, I guess. 620hp is 620hp.

How much hp was the GT2 RS rated at from it's 3.8L twin turbo? I think it was around 620hp? How much did that car cost? More than DOUBLE what this Z06 will cost. Did it have a 100k powertrain warranty from Porsche? Uh, no.

I'll take cheap, reliable, durable horsepower with a monster torque plateau strapped to a very advanced track monster for less than $100k, Alex.

Hopefully a bunch of Porsche execs will be having a meeting in the next week or so to discuss if the 960 is a 'go' or not...

A 700hp NA V8 with equal or better power levels than the ZO6 & ZR1 will solidify Porsche's engineering dominance. Just sayin'

I am considering putting a deposit on one. My problem is the car may not be developed until 2017 and estimated price probably will exceed $300,000. Also I was hoping for a convertible but rumors are it will be a coupe.

I hope Porsche makes it too! I would love to hear a Porsche NA 700hp V8 wailing around the track. It's going to cost a grip of cash though for sure and I'm a cheap Vette dude.

By that time, a possible Corvette ZR1 could be out for half price.

It may come down the particular track and certainly the driver. The McLaren MP-4 12C has 612HP and the Ferrari 458 has 570 HP; both around 100 HP advantages over the Porsche in mid-engine cars that handle exceptionally well, yet the GT3 has posted some faster track times than both.

You may be right, but it will be interesting to see.....

Easy, the Porsche will zoom right past when something inevitably breaks on the vette.

Love it!

One of the classic, go-to excuses for why a P-car is better, even though it's way slower on the track. Too bad it's not grounded in reality.

When it breaks? i agree thats a stupid answer in general. The Vette will be much much easier to fix and cheaper to fix. These pushrod engines extremely reliable with years of perfection of engineering. i personally want both
