My Turbo is Basalt Black and it is one of those colors that varies greatly with light. It can even have a brownish hue in bright light, or look jet black on others.

And, officially, this car has way too many decals going on....it's not just the roof, the wing, and inside the inside front fenders.

I had a 997TT Basalt BLK that I recently sold but jet black has more shine, IMHO and honestly I would not order basalt again. At night they look the same but diff look daytime. I prefer STD black but hey you need to like the color not me

Thanks for all the comments guys :-)
For the record, the car is basalt with the gloss black wheels option. I'll try and get a few more pics posted soon in some daylight.
I've put 200 miles on it this weekend. Steering feel is fantastic, can't discern any diff to my 997.2 GT3 albeit I sold it earlier this year so no back to back.
The front end feels way more planted than the 997, I guess due to the better aero and wider track. Its still quite easy to slide it around in the cold UK December weather wearing Michelin Sport Cup 2's.
The engine is excellent, feels very loose and easy to spin up, pulls like a train and makes a lot of noise. Much more sound than the 997. They seem to have engineered in the lumpy uneven idle from the 997 too. The tweaked PDK is great, very aggressive in Sport mode and changes down all the time to keep the revs up. The upshifts at 9,000 are to die for…Not missing the 3rd pedal so far.

Jet Black or whatever its called looks much better (to me atleast) in person than basalt. I was told by the sales man that its very hard to keep clean and prone to swirl marks if not cared properly so i also went with basalt on my .2 gt3.
I love both blacks on the new 991 3 but i went with white because it would requires less care ...hopefully.
