That's my approach too. Just need to figure out which version to buy and determine where the high risk areas are that would require the plate being on the car.

I was going to get the one from Rennline. A little steep at $125, but it seems to be well-made and have plenty of adjustability in terms of positioning--so it looks right / best during those times it needs to be on the car.

That's the way to go. Way better than the stock bracket. Thanks for the info.

Wow. That Anthracite looks amazing. It's only since today that I know there were two types of brushed aluminum available. Otherwise I would have gone for the anthracite version.
Never saw it when I ordered back in june, is it only recently available?

Well driving to Houston or to TWS I generally would add it on. Or when I know I'm coming home late in the evening. For around the town stuff, I'd leave it off.

Ive driven my Tundra pickup for 51k miles with no plate and no problems. Granted that's a pickup but my gut is the local constables really don't give a crap. It's more for roadtrips passing through small towns that have to generate revenue camping out on the thru highways.

I have had no front plate on my Cayman S for over 7 years in Texas and received only a warning once. So no front plate for me. European delivery for the GT3 so picking up a front hook plate mount. I understand Porsche Factory will honor request not to drill holes.

I think all cars at my dealer are delivered without front bracket holes drilled. Thank goodness.

Double check this. I was told you cannot leave the factory w/o a front plate and they will attach it before your arrival. You'll have to ship your mounting bracket ahead of time; best coordinated with PCNA. Some have stated concerns that PAG may balk at the plate being attached to a non TUV approved device (I don't know if that's true).

Also, I think you will need a US front plate mount, not one sized for German plates, since the temp German plates are close is size to our US plates.

You'll definitely want to make sure there are suitable holes drilled in your bracket to accommodate the temp plate. If not, you run the risk of them taking a sawz-all to your front fascia.

Really?! I've been assured that cars are ordered without front holes drilled and you drive off that way, PROVIDED you sign a waiver that says that the dealer offered to drill and install the bracket for you but that you declined.

Or are you only referring to EU delivery?

The dealer here in Houston has coordinated this in the past. You do have to bring the tow hook plate with you and install it yourself at delivery. Porsche will honor your request if notified in advance to not mount a plate up front but they will not install the tow hook plate. You have to get the dealer to notify Porsche factory delivery.

NM @frayed. Sorry. Several beers into the afternoon and didn't read the posts clearly. Ignore my comments.

Not definitive stuff but an indicator. Sadly, I don't have a car yet so I can't really give an educated guess....
Mike, now that you have your car can you answer this question?
