Guy was very, very lucky. He had lots of paved track and run-off to scrub speed before impact and he hit proper energy-absorbing barriers. Less run off and/or armco or cement and this could've been a disaster.

Manual please...while it is fun shifting up and down with an auto there is something magical about controlling it all in a manual...must be one of the few who even prefer a manual in traffic

I drive manual in traffic no problem, also up and down the Alps. I drove heavy sport clutch in one of my previous cars (not Porsche), the leg gets tired riding the clutch but otherwise no problems.
What I do miss in 997 is hill-hold assist, really helpful when climbing behind a bus.

Manual.
CUP suspension and brakes.
Detuned CUP engine with variable cam profiles as in Mezger equivalent.
Driving a car with direct links with something that gets regularly raced gives me a kick and brings me as close as possible to owning a racing car.
Best, w

+1 Manual

All my cars have manual tranmissions, except the Fiat which I want to convert to manual, and the tow-truck that works better with a slush box.

if I would build a race car it would be a PDK if it is going to compete with other PDK equipped cars.
for my own fun and driving around - manual, I like to shift myself.
I have a Lexus with an auto gearbox, in a sport toy car I want to be involved into process.

manual- even for an extra cost- had a tip in a previous and even though they say the pdk is so much better , still not the experience a sports car can have with a manual!!!!

Maybe post in the 996 and 997 GT3 forums for a greater sample and word it something like "If you were in the market for a 991 Gt3 and had a choice of manual or pdk-s, which would it be? Vote in one thread only..."

Good idea!
I hope it's ok to do that...I don't want to be accused of clogging...
Hopefully we'll get more votes...
