Unhappy 991.2 PDK and Manual - Manual felt a lot slower

So looking for some feedback here as I am totally new to the GT3 experience. Test drove a couple of 2018's GT3 that were similarly optioned with similar mileage (both under 6k miles) at a local dealer. First drove the Gray PDK one and was absolutely blown away by the throttle response, acceleration and sound. Later found out it had a different exhaust (noticed the bigger exhaust tips) but the salesman didn't know what exhaust it was. Immediately jumped into the Orange Manual and it felt rather slow. Tried a couple of 2nd gear pulls and it didn't felt sluggish compared to the gray one. Almost felt like something was holding it back. Am not sure if the gray one could have had a tune on it since it already had that exhaust and the salesman wasn't sure either. I can understand the pdk feeling slightly faster with the shorter gears but the difference I felt here was substantial. The pdk is overall a faster car 0-60 thanks to the launch control but I am talking about a roll on acceleration here and the throttle response. Both cars were in Sport mode with exhaust valves open. Am going to find another manual to drive to see how it feels.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

The PDK was probably downshifting, which would help it feel a lot stronger.

That's odd, but maybe somebody did a money shift on the manual already and unloaded it. Might want to ask for a DME report, just to see.

I was driving it in manual mode.

Yes the engine did feel weak. Can't believe they would CPO it on sale with a serious issue like that. I really need to drive another manual.

That dealer looks familiar. The orange car is a Rennlisters former car. ACsatco. While an exhaust might make a little difference in power, it can make the car sound faster, so if you are not actually timing it, it can feel faster. I doubt there is something wrong with the car as if it was way down on power it would have a check engine light. But I am sure they would run a DME scan if you had concerns.

Hmm. The engine could be on the way out. Any chance you can test drive another manual?

Are the gear ratios the same between the manual and PDK?

It all depends on what gear you're doing a pull in, in the PDK it will downshift to the optimal gear for power. If you're in a manual and didn't downshift enough (those first few gears are long), you might have been really low in the rev range and the car will feel a lot slower as these engines need to be in the upper revs in order to make power.

I had PDK winged version and Manual touring. PDK def felt faster because I could downshift with a quick flip of the wrist. All power is in the higher rev range.

The manual actually puts down more power to the wheels, so that is pretty odd. Also in drag races from a roll, the manual is faster.

Source? The manual is about 40lbs lighter but your claim is the first I've heard of it.

I posted my dyno awhile back and a few others have posted PDK dynos and manual dynos.
