Any known issues with 991.2 GT3 so far?
It's been a while. :)
Last summer I've sold my 991.1 GT3 because I was fed up with series of engine faults, repairs, replacements and endless series of warranty brake replacements I had over the years. I loved this car and I hope it will serve new owner good, but I still believe all 991.1 GT3s are born dead. But that's not something I'm willing to discuss here now. My garage is lonely without proper car. I'm thinking of getting either 991.1/991.2 TT (I know pros and cons, I had 997.2 TT at a time and heavily tracked it) or maybe 991.1 3RS / 991.2 GT3. My question is: Are there any known common issues with 991.2 GT3 or everything seems to be bulletproof so far (of course something can always happen with any car, but I'm talking about bad engineering now)? Thank you! |
Values plummet when driven in the rain. Mine is practically worthless now.

With that said, it seems that all 2000+ GT3s that were produced for NA are on display in North Scottsdale :bigbye: |

Maybe more of an annoyance than a "problem" but better to know about it up front so that it doesn't worry you when you discover it. I def thought there was something wrong when I first experienced it. |
About 6,500 miles so far on my 991.2 GT3, around 3.500 of those are track miles. Only issue I had was rear wheel steering sensitivity to diagonal tie downs on the tires, https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...-trailers.html , corrected itself just by driving it then going in a circle. Have tie downs to the jack points now. Otherwise bulletproof.

You had a rough go with your .1, Levd. Nobody can argue that! Fortunately the vast majority of .1 owners didn’t have your experience. If i ever wanted to grenade my engine i know who to send it to. :roflmao: A small number of .2s had engines go. Seems to be an issue on some with oil leaks. The thought (hope) around here is that those were isolated supplier issues, and Porsche quickly got control of the situation. There also seems to be more paint issues, and a few random mechanical issues that all seemed to be one offs. But go ahead and get one so we can consolidate all the known issues in one thread lol. Just kidding. :D |

If you are a PDK guy, maybe just get a .1RS, which seems to be on your list anyway. They are out for a few years and seem to be bulletproof.

Only problem I have is that the car already has 5200 miles (in 4.5 months), and I only use it some nights and every weekend. The odometer must be defective lol.

There have been just as many .1 RSs that the engines have grenaded , as well.
But- neither the .1 RS nor the .2 GT3s engines exhibit any issues to date like the .1 GT3 did |
Too many people flipping or barely putting any miles on before moving on!
|
The only one I am aware of is the leak on the oil tank pipe. |
Some guys have had some trouble with exhaust valve tubing coming undone but it seems like a fairly minor issue. My car is in lockdown for the winter but hopefully I’ll put some more serious miles on it come spring. So far no major stuff knock on wood. |
