From the photo of the damage, it looks like he went straight in. Looks like simply an inability to stop in time (no indication that PSM would have helped - ABS cannot be disabled).

"Porsche was embedded in the side of the truck between the front and back wheels"

No mention if speed was a factor, but I'd be willing to bet that speed was a factor.

Glad I lost.

Not arguing that - just disputing that nannies could have helped in such a case...

Sounds like truck was making 3-point turn and was in Chris’ lane perpendicular to traffic and CH T-boned him straight on.

Obviously, we don’t have enough facts from that article to make definitive conclusion.

True, and all speculation. The take away here is a reminder that as capable as these cars are, weather and road and traffic conditions, plus tire performance (assuming stock MPSC2) will equal nothing but trouble. Stay safe out there.

Glad Chris is OK. If the truck was executing the 3-point turn around a blind corner, it wouldn't take much speed to hit it. Couple that with poor wet traction on the OEM Cup 2s or Dunlop Sport Maxx 2s and I'm not sure there's much Chris could have done to avoid it.

The car looks totaled. Some one seriously could of gotten injured.

I took my .2 out yesterday and is was 43 F outside and you have to be very careful. Wheels lost traction a few times and not when expected.

At PEC Atlanta, the instructors advised that the Cups 2 were just terrible in the rain, the worst they had seen. Cold weather under 45 also a challenge...They advised that the Dunlaps were a bit better but still beware...........glad no one was hurt...

Yeah, I think the Cups start to behave when dry at 55F and above (unless lots of sun on a cooler day).

After many unsettled SoFL rain moments in my .1 w/ Cup2s I went w/ PS 4S for street use and the improvement in the wet makes the car far more usable. Like others have said it’s a just a car not human life.

Ouch... poor guy. That crash will only make your ears ring a little from airbags but then your fine. However, car is gone...

Glad to hear everyone is okay. That really sucks as CH really liked that car. But...just a car.

Not so sure it's a total. Going through a total loss with my SUV right now so learning a little about total loss claims. Many insurance companies use 75% of the vehicle value as a general guideline for total loss. This varies by company and state and other factors are taken into account as well but I believe 75% is a common guideline.

So with the GT3, if the value is $175,000, the damages need to be about $130k for the 75% threshold. Salvage value is also factored in, and since a damaged GT3 probably has higher than average salvage value as a percentage of before damage value, I imagine the 75% threshold would be a bit lower. Even so, I could see a car with $50k or $75k or even $100k in damages being fixed.

Moral of the story, don't get in an accident with a GT3. Wrap it in a bubble lol.

p.s. I'm sure those in the insurance and/or collision industry can say more and correct anything that is wrong with my understanding.
