Default Another GT3 RS Engine Failure

Hi all,

My friend was driving his car the other day, had the warning to add oil, and then safe mode activated. Took the car to the dealer and it turns out misfire in cylinder 4. fast forward a few weeks and the results came out as a head failure.
Now here is the dilemma, the car was painted the first week the car was received to match the owners colour preference so Porsche dealer has refused to cover it under warranty. We are trying to prove that this is a known defect and that is common in all GT3 RS'. My question is how many 991.1 GT3 RS have had engines or heads changed? Is there a documented number?

What country are you in? In the US, the dealer would have to show that the color of the car was responsible for the engine failure in order to refuse warranty repair...

What does a paint job have to do with a blown engine. Have him call PCNA if the dealership is not helping.

Unfortunately, we are not in the USA. That is exactly what we are arguing about. The engine was neither removed nor tampered with during the repaint. They have accepted to handle 67% of the bill which still leaves us with a $10k repair cost.

Hoping once we know how many RS have had this problem we will have a better case.

Get a tow truck and get your car out of there. Go to another dealer and inform Porsche headquarters about what is happening. A paint job and the engine being blown have ZERO connection!

This is not even close to a common problem for .1RS. They have been dead reliable.

I agree that this is not a common issue with the .1 RS. You mentioned a head failure? Do you have more details on exactly what happened? Have you read through the Concerned Owners Group thread? - https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...ouncement.html.

First I hear about an RS blowing the engine.
Mine starts idling a little rough again, time for new plugs I guess soon.

This isn't NY where there is a dealer on every corner. Some regions only have 1 dealer. SMH

Or is that because the number of RS cars actually being driven is so low?

Early in its release, there was a 991.1 GT3RS 4.0 engine failure when being tested by an Australian car magazine. I don't remember then specifics. But it has not been a recognized problem like in the 991.1 GT3.
