Default PDK not downshifting properly

Just got back from a late evening/night drive. It was a beautiful drive. It was, however, a bit tainted by the fact that the PDK does not appear to kickdown properly in auto mode right now. I was going maybe 20 mph and the PDK was in 4th. In the past flooring it would kick down into 1st, but it won’t do that right now. Even at 15 mph it would not kick down into 1st. I don’t drive the car in auto often, but i am pretty sure it will kick down into 1st below 25 mph.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Sounds like you are were not in sport mode. With pdk sport engaged you should definitely be in 2nd gear.

Yeah, straight auto no sport. Going 15 or 20 mph it would kick down to first. Now it won’t. Hopefully someone can confirm at what speed a .1 GT3 will kickdown into first.

Rob, I had a similar issue - in S mode only - driving back from the track a few weeks ago. No warning lights or codes visible to my reader. PDK clinging particularly to fourth gear. Dealer scan with PIWIS showed that when I had at one point been very low on fuel while on track the engine had registered misfires. It went into a sort of invisible limp mode that barely affected driveavility. Code cleared, we road tested it with their laptop attached to watch the action in real time and everything worked fine. It has run perfectly since. Just a thought.

Rob,

just tried on my way to work.
i can confirm that in 4th at about 23-24 mph in regular pdk auto, kicking it down, pdk goes to first.

Thanks Toni. That's what I thought. Time to take it to the dealer.

Actually it kicked down fine on that run. Anything 25mph or less. So not sure. Also, sport works fine. More testing needed.

On my first attempt I was on freeway taking my exit, slowed down to about 26 27 mph in 4th.....floored it and went to second gear instead of first.
so maybe below 25 mph it goes to 1 and above that goes to 2.
try some more and let us know.
i don t want to get warranty for the pdk s lol
