Default Modifications to my Black GT3 Touring - Help Please

Hi All,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on tweaking my touring and I could use some advice.

Aesthetics:
- Stripes and Side Decals:
- Matt Black or Dark Matt Grey?
- 911R or Sports Classic Stripes?

Would you say the sports classic stripes are Matt black or dark Matt grey?

- Wheels (Going Black with Polished/Diamond Cut Lip):
- Satin Black Wheels or Painted in Bodycolour?

The polished/diamond cut lip is a must to match the chrome/high polish window trim.

Sound/Performance:
This car is for street use and whilst a boost in performance for the track doesn’t matter to me, having a more agile and pronounced sports car feel on the road does and I am therefore considering:

A) Exhaust:
I was going to go for a Soul Rear Bypass (Good bang for buck and if I want to upgrade to full Dundon etc I can do so without a big hit) and disconnect the valves, but many here have reported it is already too loud on the inside of the touring. Can owners give their thoughts please? I have been driving my .2 GT3 RS for about 400 miles now and love the sound. A bit more volume wouldn’t be bad.

Or

B) Side Bypass and Lithium Battery:
I have also read many people mentioning part of what makes the R so special is carrying less weight. This is making me consider a side muffler delete combined with the lithium battery.

- How much is the lithium battery? Any major downsides (cost to benefit ratio, amount of charge etc)? Do Porsche sell them?

I welcome opinions and thoughts. I am hoping to have the above finalised and implemented before the end of summer and will post lots of pics.

100% PORSCHE old-style side stripes only.
1000% satin black wheels, especially if you're going Black Matte stripe.
Also, don't know what they're using for your car but, to my knowledge, 3M doesn't offer a matte grey. (Could simply be in another sample book that I don't have or other manufacturer.)

Can't go wrong with Black Matte but it might be too subtle on black exterior. I spent a ridiculous time on this and drove Nick and Anthony nuts over at NS2 media before coming to conclusion that 3M Grey (the next darkest shade after Black Matte) worked best for me on black exterior. Elegant yet subtle.

For me, the Touring should look like a standard Carrera (no visible added evidence of its specialness), but drive like a GT3. But stripes do look good.

Any pics? Did you go for stripes?

Here are the two renders I had made

I understand your point of view, but I love the look of subtle stripes and think the touring pulls it off very well. It is very personal and they can always be removed, which is why they are being installed on top of the PPF. For me it is more a question of stripe style at this point.

How many threads are we going to start about "what modifications" or "what exhaust" should I put on my car? I think there has been plenty of of the same question asked here with responses.

I would personally do the side stripes in grey and maybe bring some color in with the Porsche text. I think the Touring cars need something to make them stand out a bit as something special due to lack of wing. Top stripes are a bit much IMO.

Subtle top stripes are fine, either matte black or gray. Personally, I don’t think the sport classic stripes work that well on the 991 due to the width of the frunk. Let the 911R have the “in your face” stripes. The Touring can pay quiet quiet-homage to its 911R cousin with stealth.

Phil From Fabspeed here.
I really like the dark grey or the Matte black both work really well. Personally I like the classic strips. As far as the exhaust on the gt3 I do not I would not do the center muffler bypass. I would stick to side muffler bypasses and sport headers. Personal preference in performance and sound.

Don't you have your car already? If so, is it too loud to you? If not, wait and hear it for yourself before doing anything. I personally think the Touring loudness is completely a non-issue and has been way over-blown on RL. But when it comes to sound, I don't think you should listen to anyone on RL (good or bad) and judge for yourself.

Like you said, the stripes are easily added and removed. For my black Touring, I plan on adding the side stripes only first for a little bit before adding the Sport Classic stripes. This way I can compare the two on my own car with my own eyes. If I don't like the Sport Classic stripes, it will take 10 minutes to remove.

As for the two renderings, I personally like the second pic. But again, IMO it's cheap enough to buy both to see what you like.

My vote goes towards Matte Black 911R stripes in combination with Satin Black Wheels with a Polished Lip. We should get you a set of Signatures, they look superb and pricepoint fantastic for a fully forged wheel.

Center Muffler Bypass will offer best ROI on sound enhancement and will be louder and more aggressive than side muffler bypass pipes with valves open. Valves closed position should also be a bit less loud in cabin. Valved Side Muffler Bypass Pipes have smoother tone, not as loud valves open, and a smidge more cabin presence with valves closed. The side muffler bypass pipes save about 40lbs, center muffler bypass about 11lbs. AntiGravity Li battery is about a 35lbs of weight savings and is in the $800-$900 range. They have a built in feature that over extended periods of time sitting, it maintains charge so it won't leave you in a position of having a dead battery. There are some great threads here on RL about them. Proceeding with weight comparisons, ST ceramic rotors save about 45lbs over the OEM iron rotors, but you already have PCCB's so that's a moot point haha.

I have been driving the .2 3RS for around 400 miles. It is not too loud for me and I wouldn’t mind it a bit louder, especially when pushing it hard.

Thank you John. In your experience would side bypass combined with the battery cut enough weight (75lbs) to make a noticeable change to the cars character when street driving?
