Not OK to let car idle?
So I picked up my GT3 at PEC LA yesterday (I'll leave that for another post) and I was talking to my driving coach and he mentioned to me that a Porsche engineer told him it wasn't good to let the GT3 idle for long periods of time and to just shut the motor off as soon as you park. Something about oil blah blah blah, I honestly forgot the reason he gave already.
The instructor was pretty adamant about this and made me kill the motor as soon as we parked.
Anyone heard of this? First time for me.

Yes.
When the engine is just idling, it is not under any load. In this state, the oil rings are not fully sealing the combustion chamber and fuel and combustion byproducts will "blow-by" the rings and contaminate the engine oil.
That's also why you don't want to start the car and just move it across your driveway and then shut it off. When you start her, you need to run her, and when your are finished running her, you need to shut her off.

This was concern with .1 gt3 with the oiling issues and lower oil pressure at idle for long lengths of time. A memo was issued to all centers to terminate long idle periods on GT3s in pool a couple years back.

Cars should be driven almost immediately when cold to warm up, albeit not under heavy load or higher RPM during the warmup phase.
When warm, they shouldn’t idle for long periods of time. It wastes fuel and can keep oil from hitting all parts of the engine.
When hot off the track, the car should be driven in cool down mode for a few mins to cool the engine and brakes. After that, idling should be avoided.

You will have no issues.
But - What they do say is do not warm up your car by idling.
Meaning. If you cold start your car and it sits for for 15 minutes and it is all warmed up do not just rev it to red line. It needs to be warmed up thru driving. So- start you car, drive it immediately and when your oil warms up you are good to go
