Default GT3T with PSE on vs off

Three clips. One at idle. One at 120kph and another at 140kph. All film on same road at same time. Car runs Dunlop’s.
You can heat that at idle there is a distinct difference. But notihng at 120 or 140. Indeed the sound at 140 is very unpleasant.

By any chance, any videos under full throttle?

At that RPM, aren't the valves closed anyway? I thought the valves opened at idle, but then after that, they only opened up above about 3500 RPM.

Funny i just posted this on another thread. I actually didn’t know the PSE button on the GT3 actually did more than just noise. Other cars I’ve had it was just noise. Default should be PSE on, with a button to turn it off!

I think the valves open whenever you push the button, and if left closed will open automatically above 3,500 rpm. So, the engine should sound the same above 3,500 rpm. Below that rpm, it may sound different outside, but the important thing is the increased low and mid-range torque with the button pushed.

My point is that in my GT3.2 PDK there is a distinct different at the same revs with PSE on vs off. In the GT3T there is none...and the sound is not good. So there is a difference between the two cars.

First of all you need to ascertain that both your cars are truly representative of all GT3s..If it turns out they are then it sounds to me that you much prefer the winged PDK GT3 to the Touring..This is particularly good news to me as after much deliberating i eventually chose a PDK GT3 which is a fantastic piece of kit.
You do realise Chris that insinuating on a public forum that the manual GT3 is not perfection personified will release the full wrath of the Manual GT3 brigade.
You're a brave man indeed...!

OEM is too muted - does not matter how many buttons you push,

I really doubt there's any difference between the sound of the PDK car and the sound of the manual car. That would be too much engineering for no apparent gain!

My 981 Cayman S made the same sound at cruising speed, PSE on or off. I know because the car had a drone at 75 and I tried to get rid of it with the button and it did nothing. Sounded identical.

I am not sure you guys are getting it. I own both a GT3.2 PDK and a GT3T....and they sound very different inside the cabin with PSE on vs off at the same speed. And another GT3T delivered to my dealer sounded the same. Porsche claim there is no difference between a regular GT3 and the GT3T. I say there is. So either both GT3Ts are faulty or there is a difference.

To prove it I will also post videos of my GT3.2 PDK at the same speeds.

OP

Does your car sound like this

Or like this

Or like this

These are all GT3 Ts that sound pretty much the same and all sound good

If your car sound pretty different then take it to the dealer and show them these videos

Interesting- I disconnected the vacuum lines and plugged them so valves are always open. Best Mod

I genuinely believe you're one of the most reliable posters on Rennlist if past posts are an indicator..If we allow ourselves to concentrate on the known differences between the winged GT3 and the Touring to ascertain the reasons for the disparity in the noise aspect.
The obvious differences is the air intake scoops and the wing which might make the difference..The only other plausible cause is that Porsche have secretly tuned the PDK and manual GT3s differently for reasons unknown to us punters. It would be interesting to compare the manual winged GT3 to the Touring even just to eliminate the PDK..

its not the sound outside the car. It’s inside the car. And besides, these cars are static. Not at speed.
