Whereas the .2GT3 was designed by Porsche to be a track and road car, Porsche appears to have designed the RS.2 to be primarily a track car. This, the need and upgrades with less hp but more chassis and suspension tweaks. Those of us who own the .2GT3 need to assess our driving needs. I for one rarely track my car and though I had planned to buy the RS.2 now I am not so sure. It doesn't make sense for what I use the car for.
Probably the best reason to buy the car is it will retain its value probably far longer than the .2GT3.

The plan was to offer WP package. As mentioned in previous post that’s looks more and more unlikely. Chris info about the particle filter fitted cars might give Porsche time to offer WP for that batch of cars. They have some issues causing delays with WP and PTS on gt2rs
WP is just another tactic for porsche to take 30k from me for extra carbon bits and pieces. Screw that.

They will sell them all. The 991.2 GT3 supposedly performs better than the 991.1 GT3RS. I wonder how much of a difference there will really be between the .2 GT3 and RS now ? I think the new GT3 offers the best of both worlds, a great track car that can be driven on the street. It’s also not as outrageous looking as the RS imo . Unless somebody is really going to track their car consistently or they are buying a car with finances in mind I’m not sure it makes sense anymore to buy a RS

Torn on this one - if I get a call for an allocation, I may keep my PTS 991.2 GT3, or trade it for one of these. I don't think they will allow PTS on the 991.2 GT3 RS, correct? Plus, no third pedal. I don't know why it bothers me that it is PDK only, I just have this ridiculous attachment to MT that I can't let it go for some reason.
I guess if I get the call for one of these, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Great look, love the car, and appears similar to what I was expecting, at least.

Visuals are visuals. To each their own.
Specs are specs—and rarely tell the story that matters.
I'm curious about the driving.
The 997 RS 4.0 "story" was all about its engine, and that's what almost everyone focused on, but my time in one suggested it was the chassis that was magic. Worth trading up from a 997 RS 3.8 on paper, or per the press release? No. Worth it behind the wheel? Oh yes. At least back when they were new. So I'm curious to see if the new RS makes the same strides seen in the GT2 RS's chassis. The 991.1 RS was a shockingly comfortable car to and from the track and a monster on the track, so it will be interesting to see if the new RS offers something of value in the driving as an upgrade.

Any SA should be able to pull up all active allocations in the system as time goes on, so ask them to show you the list at some point, and if there are more than 2........

I know this is too early to ask, but do you think there will be a big difference in Ring times between the .2 GT3 and the .2RS from the info given? The .1RS Manthey car ran a 7.10 with a lot of mods, (stock .1RS ran a 7.18 I think), and the stock .2 GT3 ran a 7.12 (the .1 GT3 7.22), I can't see the .2RS going any faster than the Manthey car, which would put the .2 3 and RS close. Thoughts?
Yes, I'm the one that went there, many shaking their heads at this comment...lol

Keep laughing
Was talking about 991.1RS 4.0 vs 991.2 GT3 4.0 engines, same TQ on paper but how it is delivered is different, there are many threads on this. Even with the 3.8, compared with the 991.1 GT3, my modded 997 GT3 felt faster cuz the mid range punch where the 991 doesn't give you that shove until you pulling harder in the top end. It is way more usable on the street. In the 991, you will feel you aren't even pushing the car or using any of the power due the TQ curve.
Keep laughing. If it was that great, Porsche would of used it in the 991 cup cars (3.8 version) and kept using the 991.1 4.0 engine in the 991.2, but instead they used the Mezger for the 991.1 cup car and junked the 991.1 4.0 engine for the new one in the 991.2. Yes as a engineering standpoint, there is nothing wrong with the 991.1 RS engine....It is just I like how the old Mezger and the new 991.2 delivered power. I believe Porsche and many Rennlisters think it can be improved as well. If you don't believe how I feel about the cars from my experience, go watch the videos on Youtube, creditable presenters all said mid range TQ was sacrificed for high end power for the 991.1. I like the mid range on the street rather than the top end, and when I moved to the 991.1, I felt something was lost, but the 991.2 gained all of it back + the top end power. If I had the means, I would upgrade to the 991.2 GT3RS from the 991.1.

When my MT .2 GT3 shows up in March I will test it out myself and enjoy it and my .1 RS thoroughly.
Kind regards,

Interesting. Is Brett/Sonnen still a sponsor here? Perhaps he can comment.
