Michelin Sport Cup 2 Question -

I heard today from my dealer that if I want to put new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires on my GT3, I will have to use ones produced in mid-2016 because those are the newest ones made by Michelin. That doesn't make sense to me as I will be fitting tires that are almost one year old on my car. I won't drive enough miles on them to use them up so I will have to replace them due to time (6 years max). However if I have one year old tires, I am losing a full year of use. Has anyone heard that the latest Michelin production of the Sport Cup 2s were from mid-2016 or I am getting played here?
