GT3, R8, or 570S
For those who have owned and driven them - which would you select - 991.2 GT3, Audi R8 V10+, or McLaren 570S?
Another way to think of it:
- would you trade your GT3 for an R8V10+?
- would you trade your R8 for a GT3?
- would you trade your GT3 for a 570S?
- would you trade your 570S for a GT3?
All are similar in price, performance and practicality. Two will get way more attention than the GT3. One is a turbo, the others are some of the last N/A engines.
Just wondering what those who have actually owned the cars think.

All nice cars, but only one has a Manual (I loved the R8 Gated Shifter - was sorry to see it go...)

R8 vs GT3
I currently own a 2012 R8 V10 coupe and a 2018 991.2 GT3. Both with manual transmissions. The R8 is not the "plus", so it's not a direct comparison to the GT car, but it's close.
I use them as daily drivers and play on twisty roads. No track use.
IMHO, they're completely different animals.
The Audi is more luxurious, has a more comfortable ride, and makes a deeper "richer" growl. It's also very easy to drive smoothly, but shows it's personality if you drive more aggressively. It's by far the better choice for a long weekend trip, a night out with the wife, etc. It also draws much more attention from the general public.
The GT3 feels more phrenetic. It requires constant attention and driver input. It's nimble, incredibly responsive, and keeps me smiling at all times. It's my choice if I'm alone and looking for a fun ride. My wife and kids think getting in and out is a nuissance (I have the buckets), find the ride choppy, and think it looks like the other thousand Porsches in my neighborhood. It only gets noticed by car guys.
Hope that's some help!
Let me know if you want anything more specific....

The McLaren easily gets the most attention and drives like an exotic. The carbon tub with the direct steering and the short nose all add to that experience. Not great for the crappy SF Bay Area roads. I had 991.1 GT3 and R10 V10 manual so not exactly same as your asks, but for what it's worth the R8 was more fun and useable on the street--probably because of the NA engine paired with the manual--as opposed to the GT3, which just felt like jail time in order to enjoy. Same for the 570S.

just got an R8 v10 plus to hold me over between my .1 RS and .2 RS. I had a .1 GT3 before RS
so far very limited driving of the R8 due to weather , but first impression is very very positive. Luxury is 2 steps higher than RS even with full weather in RS
Handling seems to be very good
engine sound is amazing
I test drove a 570 S , it is fast , but was not blown away . I would rather have a Turbo S
will report more down the line on R8

I would recommend the naturally aspirated cars, . . Ditch the turbo, and befriend some owners of the other two, spend an hour driving them.

I did about 6 laps in the new R8 V10+ a couple months ago. I love the engine. The rest of the car was just ok.
I absolutely love the look of the 570S in person. I love how small it looks, and the rear end. I'm skeptical of any turbo motor. I almost always prefer a less powerful, but NA motor.
I've never driven a GT3. But given what I know about it, and how much I love my 991 C2S, a manual 991.2 GT3 is my goal. Even if a used 570S is about the same price ($160k), I'd be worried about the maintenance costs of the Mclaren. I enjoy working on my cars, and the GT3 seems more approachable than the Mclaren.

^ Should be interesting...very similar to my LP550-2 in terms of power and weight...which is a riot with that V10...but no doubt sharper handling closer to the 991 with (I assume) magnetic shocks and electric steering, for better and for worse...

Never had a mclaren, was very happy with the my 2012 r8 v10 manual, thinking of getting a new 5.2 plus. Very different than 991.2 gt3. If you plan on tracking, I think I'd keep the gt3. If you just want something that is faster that you can dd and get some looks, get the r8.
