The EU/ROW used to get the cool cars while the US/North America didn't so now it's time for us to benefit.

They are more concerned about what will sell in all other parts of the world versus just the USA.

I’m not sure to the credibility of the Autocar article, but every car Porsche makes minus the GT3 is turbo charged now... every single model changed to turbo in the past 4-5 years. No stopping evolution.

there will become a time when all future Pcar enthousiest will only understand turbo cars and hybrids. Once everyone converts, accepts the change, most will not know the difference. So the elastic feel of the pedal or the lag of the turbos will be normal. I don't care about the extra 2 seconds you get on the track or ring, etc etc. I enjoy what you all enjoy the feeling, sound, and enjoyment of the process. I cant stand PDK, wanted a manual. at some point, there will never be another manual in any car again. Kinda crazy to think that, but the snow ball is rolling.

Well, if the above post is true and they can't put the 4.0 motor into any cars for sale in Europe it's extremely likely that these are the last.

Well the new 911 launch date is early 2019 on the west coast, let's hope we still have the N/A option...........

That would be fun (but unlikely). We never got any RS here until 997 (2.7RS, 2.8RSR street version, 3.0RS, 964RS, 993RS, or 996RS) or other fun stuff like 959, GT1, or 993GT2

Consider there may no longer be a manual transmission as well...PDK will continue

I don't think manual will be worth more in 30 years. I am 42, so if the future market does not "know" the real manual concept, why would anyone want one. I think the PDK is amazing, just not for me, but at some point its going to be the only option. maybe just my fear.lol

Damn shame if this is true. Was hoping this day wouldn’t come. Hopefully the .2 3rs will be revealed soon. Have my build sheet for over a month and counting. Looks like its going to be a keeper at least until i see whats under the hood of the 992 3rs

I don’t think they are leaving much on the table with just using the 4.0 for the 991.2 GT3 (and presumably the 991.2 GT3RS) that should be close to 10k cars and it is based on the 9a1 sort of anyway and how much different are the 3.8 GT3 and 4.0 R and RS motors anyway.

What I don’t get and can’t quite figure out is the math on when they have time to build the remaining supposedly NA cars. We have GT3 through November 2018 (at least), GT2RS, GT3RS and then presumably a boxster Spyder and GT4. GT3RS announced is March or so and what and very short run before 2019 or it carries on into calendar year 2019. What about the 718 cars? If the rumors are true they will be NA. Seems like they have to build NA cars through calendar year 2019. I suppose if I were in charge, I would build as many as possible of all of them leaving the 718 cars for last of the NA to boost sales there.

Going forward, a MT variable vein rear wheel drive turbo GT3 would be sufficiently differentiated from the normal 3.0 turbo 911 line and would be something desirable I suppose. Although it leaves to the imagination what the difference between a GT3RS and GT2RS would be. Maybe the GT3RS gets hybrid power and the GT2RS is just a mega turbo engine.

Last point, I just don’t see how Porsche can possibly keep up with CAFE regs without serious success of the mission E. All they sell now are high performance cars, a giant sedan, and SUVs.

PS my cafe solution, only somewhat tongue in cheek, was that buy a gas guzzler, get a really cheap electric vehicle free. Like a leaf but even cheaper and smaller.

You guys worry too much. The future will be what it will be. Enjoy the cars we have today and deal with the future when it happens.

As to value who cares. See above.

I am not worried but i found a box of memorex 60m and 90m tapes in a box when we moved 5 years ago. I was digging out x-mas stuff for the wife, and thought, how many people remember the tape cassette.lol At some point, no one will remember the manual. just like very few younger adults remember the 3 on the tree drove a ford f100 (don't hold my feet to the fire if it was suppose to be there or added after the fact) on my uncles farm as a kid. I never want to see one again, but someone probably hated seeing it go.

Oh for chrissake, the dealers are now going to use this BS article as fact and use it to fool more people into paying higher ADMs. Some of these sales guys need to be thrown in jail for telling people they going to MAKE money on a car they are trying to sell them. STOP THE MADNESS!
