Default 200 cells catted headers and single pipe side mufflers delete into OEM center muffler

This is a 200 cells catted headers with not valved side delete, single pipe into the stock center not silenced path (the path used when valves are opened)
just a quick test revving 0 4k rpms
inside cabin recording and both windows open (you can hear the belt alarm at idle)

differently than the single pipe with the stock catted headers (droning at 2.8k rpm as known) , the 200 cells catted headers surprisingly shows no drones or booming,
sound is loud but flat6 glorious

so far so good,
i will retest it cruising and test wot and a pair of launch as soon i have the time to reinstall the rear bumper

I could stand it possibly a touch louder so I’ll just unhook the valves...plug the line the a golf tee and zip tie and see how that goes.

Those big heavy 45 lbs of side mufflers don’t do a whole lot they do some in making the exhaust too quiet...glad those are dumped off the car
Do you have stock headers?

Thanks. Just ordered these from John. Will likely run these with 200 cell cats first and see how it goes

There's a Kline full system listed for sale in the classified. Inconel sounds a bit more high pitched than stainless steel. There's a youtube video of a 991.1 with it.

On another note, I finally had a chance to put my Soul valved side bypass on, paired with an 991.2 RS muffler. I have to say it is absolute perfection. It's nice a smooth (little to no drone) down low and a beast up high in the RPM range. Driving the car feels like heaven now, as opposed to before with just the 90 degree elbow non-valved bypass which droned from 2K to 3K RPM. Although that setup sounded better than my current setup at WOT, I prefer the current setup more because it's more compliant for my occasional passengers, wife or son. I tried recording videos and sound clips but the iphone's microphone is so crappy it doesn't do the sound any justice. Would highly recommend Soul side bypass. Craftmanship and fit/finish on the piece was also superb

None of you heard MPRB center bypass? It is cheap and it seems working well...

Since it looks as if the thread needs an update, here is my $0.02:

I have had many loud cars, and love an obnoxiously loud 911 of any age ( have a few). On my 991.2 GT3 I have a center section that was custom fabbed by GT Technik to my specs (narrower pipe for higher pitch sound, and closer to cup car). The sound of the center section alone is great, but I could never get over the annoyance of the valves opening at 4k RPM. I have been running my car with the valves unplugged and my aftermarket center section and think it is a great fit. Drone is not all that bad, the car sounds great at idle and full scream. However, there is still a bit lacking in terms of volume throughout the range for a weekend driver, which mine is.

I am considering going with a custom setup, or IPE with remote controlled system added, so I can have essentially straight pipes after the cats but still the option to go into quiet mode by remote. It is challenging to sneak out of the house at 5-6 am for any events when you wake up the house and neighborhood. My short term fix has been a pair of 3.5" silicone coolant pipes with mini mufflers attached to them. I plug those beauties into the exhaust outlets of the GT3 for a sneak-away feature, then unplug down the street near the neighbors I don't like as much.

Once you have driven/heard a fully uncorked GT3/RS it is hard to imagine anything less. Center section is great for a blend of civility and sound, but I prefer something just a bit louder. It isn't all that often that you get into the high rpms on the street, so the docile 0-6k rpm range could use some more oomf.

I hope this helps.

i am going to get the final verdict on the tune or no tune issues for CEL on CAT failure. I think this is out of control. There should be no issue adding tune. Any 200 cell or less can or may throw a code, plus, we should be able to make the car run correctly without CEL issues. There has to be something in writing as all these turbo cars are tune crazy. The tune does not do much to change mapping that would cause some major failure, like turning up a turbo to 100hp over the the stock motor.

I've had the following exhausts:
997.1 RS: sharkwerks rear bypass, Europipe
991.1 RS: BBi rear bypass, CMS rear bypass
991.2 RS: JCR silenced race pipe

My favorite is the JCR.

I'm selling a brand new IPE Stainless system for a significant discount if anyone is interested.
